We really like Elliott for our soon to be born son. But everyone - and I mean everyone we have told the name to does not care for it. Honest opinions? Like it? Really like it? Dislike it? Really dislike it?

I love love love the name Elliot. I've always loved it. It captures the mood of the moment: familiar, traditional, offbeat, intelligent, relaxed, classic and it isn't trendy at all (yet, who knows what tomorrow will bring, when I named my son Caleb it was 40, last year it was 16!).

Go with what you love. My family did not like Caleb at all and I still love my son's name, I'm so glad I trusted my gut, when I think about the names I considered that they prefered, I just shutter. You have to just love your kid's name.

I don't like the name Elliott at all for a boy or a girl. It sounds geeky. Sorry, you asked for opinions...and this is mine. Best wishes :) .

I cannot say that I like the name Elliot. It sounds cute for a baby and mature for an adult. It does not seem to suit a school age child. However, whatever name you choose will end up suiting the baby. The name will become him. So if you like it, go with it. Good luck!!

I love it!!!!!!! Its a wonderful classic name.

I guess the moral of the story is don't tell friends and family what you're thinking until the baby is born. I made that mistake with my first by telling my mom and aunt what we were thinking of naming our daughter. They didn't like it and said so......my dh who wasn't sold on the name decided right then and there he didn't want to use that name. Later Mom decided she really did like the original name. My dd ended up Isabella along with half the other girls born the years following her birth.

With my next 2, I never pretold my thoughts but Elliot was on the list.

It isn't one of my favorites, but I like it much better than a made-up name or one with cre8tive spelling. If you love it go for it.

I'm not a fan of the name either, but if you like it that's all that really matters.
