Is Julia an Okay Nickname for Juliana?

  • Yes
  • No, too confusing. Just name her Julia.
  • Other

I voted "other" because if I were using the name Juliana I would call her by either her full name (it's beautiful) or a shorter version like Juls or Julie. I just don't think of Julia as a nickname (the ending A sound is too long, or something). But, that said, I I know that your dh wants to use a nickname, and if Juliana nn Julia works for you, I think you should go ahead and use it.

I voted "other." I don't think there's anything wrong with it, but I think people will still end up shortening it because it's a 3 syllable name (well, maybe 2 depending if you're pronouncing it JUL-ya and not JU-lee-uh). I have a dear friend who goes by Jewels and that's my favorite nn for this one.

Juliana is really lovely, so it's a winner whatever you decide... :-)

You already know I voted yes, though I personally prefer Julia (as a given name) in general. ;)

IMHO any name works as a nick name for any name since nn don't have to come from given names:) But I think Julia is too pretty to play second fiddle.

A friend of mine named her daughter Julianne because she thought she'd call her Annie. Turns out, she never calls her anything but Julianne. Thinking of nicknames in the future may be a moot point because ya never know what you might end up calling your baby ;)

I think Julia is a perfectly fine nn for Juliana. It's beautiful.
