I went with Cordelia Blythe based on sound alone, but I nearly voted for Margaret Cordelia. Cordelia works great as a fn, so that's what finally swayed me. Now if Cordelia Margaret had been an option ...

Thanks, Kelli. So, with Adair Victoria, Ruth Caroline, and Camilla Charlotte, you'd choose Cordelia Margaret over Cordelia Blythe (or any of the others, for that matter)? I was thinking that maybe it would be better to avoid another C first name, just because Ruth Caroline is a double name, and from time to time, she'd probably just be Caroline. I included Blair because I really like it, but I think it's a bit to rhymey with Adair...your thoughts?

I'm a little obsessed with girl names because I took Terra's (belle_petite) test that tells you how many children you'll have and what their sexes will be. Anyway, it told me I'm having 4 girls and a boy, so I've been giving lots of thought to this...I can't seem to stop! It's so much fun! Well, you know that...you've named three girls already!

Terra's test seems to have had that effect on us all ... apparently I'm getting a boy someday! LOL

I'd forgotten about Camilla, FWIW, and if Ruth Caroline would occasionally be simply Caroline, you're right ... I'd avoid another C fn. Unfortunate, because I do love Cordelia. ;) Maybe Margaret Cordelia, nn Meg, is the best choice after all.

I agree about Blair and Adair being too rhymey, btw. I did remember that one, and purposefully avoided it for that reason.

Margaret Cordelia, nn Meg, was Annie's favorite, too, I think. You're so good to remember Adair! Like you, I adore Cordelia, and I feel so lucky to have it as a family name (especially serendipitous once you know that I'm an English major and that I love Shakespeare). Plus, I love the nickname Dilly for some reason (though that one would be just for mom, I think; Dilly isn't much of a public nickname, you know?), and there's always Cora, which is so lovely.

I have a question about Kaitlyn's middle name: Is the A like cat, or is it more of an "ah" sound. I've never known how to pronounce Abrielle properly, but it's so pretty that I feel like I need to learn. And I have to say again how I love the other girls' names as well; Fiora, especially, is gorgeous. And Devanie Rose is too cute (and of course, I'm still loving how Devanie sticks up for her sister's name!).

You're not alone ... I think Dilly is an adorable mom-only nn. And it's not that far removed from Delia (another nn option, although I love Cora!), so it makes perfect sense. If it weren't for McCormick, Cordelia would have most certainly made it to my own short list. ;)

We say Abrielle with the A sound from cat, to use your example (or basically like Gabrielle without the G). My mom often says it more like Ah-brielle or Au-brielle (like Aubrey), and it doesn't bug me ... I have heard it both ways, FWIW. Thanks for the compliments on all the girls' names, btw. I'm so glad we rethought Abigail's mn and stumbled upon Fiora. I still find it enchanting. ;) Devanie's still sticking up for Aila, btw. My grandmother tried to tell me how well she could say Abby the other day, and I just said something like "that's nice, but we don't know any Abbys." LOL Then she kept trying to get her to say it and Devanie had no idea she was referring to Abigail. Every time she pointed to the baby Devanie would say "Aila!" ;) I love my girls. LOL

Yep, Margaret Cordelia nn Meg is still my favorite. I just adore Meg!

I would definitely avoid another C name (sadly, because I do love the idea of Cordelia Blythe or Cordelia Margaret). And I think Blair is too close to Adair. So I haven't been swayed from my initial reaction to Margaret Cordelia.

I voted for Margaret Cordelia. Margaret is nms but I really like Meg and I LOVE Cordelia for you. I LOVE Blair and would have voted for that in a heartbet but it is too rhymey with Adair.

I, too, am a little obsessed by the pencil test, we're crazy, huh? I do hope this little one we're ttc will be a girl like it says, lol.

I still say that I hope I'm lucky enough to have girls who love one another's names as much as I do! No one in my family is a big fan of Cordelia, despite the fact that it was my great-grandmother's name. Every time I mention it, they all roll their eyes, which is another reason I think it's probably best in the middle name spot (and hey, I can still call her Dilly if I want!).

Come to think of it, no one really likes Camilla, either (Is it a bad name? I've always thought of it as being rather regal and gorgeous, but apparently, lots of people just think of Camilla Parker-Bowles, who's really about the farthest thing from my mind.). So, I hope that Adair and Ruth Caroline stick up for their little sisters like Devanie does for Aila. I don't understand the distaste for Aila; I think it's beautiful, and even though Abby is nice, Aila is far more feminine and pretty. Go Devanie, go!

Ugh! Don't you hate the eye-rolling? My family is the same way ... they aren't very interested in names (no one ever wants to humor me LOL), but they're very clear about what they DON'T like. Generally that's anything that not popular, trendy or familiar. ;) Phooey on them! I still gave my girls the names we loved for them. And I see nothing wrong with the Dilly nn coming from the mn, since that's where Cordelia seems to work best with your other names anyway. You go right ahead and use it.

As far as Camilla goes, I do like it a lot, although I slightly prefer simply Camille thanks to Ms. Parker-Bowles (well, technically it might be a personal association, because my sister used to care for the most adorable little girl named Camille). ;) It's not a lasting impression, however, and I know I'd forget about it as soon as I met a little Camilla. Of course, if she's to be girl number three (been there, done that LOL), I'm sure her big sisters will take care of any nay-sayers. If not, I'll send Devanie out to handle them. hehe

Speaking of which, thanks for the comments on Aila. I agree with your completely, of course. I don't think it's the name itself they dislike (at least I would hope not ... I love it, and it's as much her name as Abigail or Fiora to me). I think they just hate that I would opt to use a "non-traditional" nn. Anything unfamiliar must be bad, KWIM? Of course, I've reminded them a dozen times that they never call my father Dick (he's Richard, Rich, or to his mother, Richie ... but NEVER Dick LOL). So why do I have to call Abigail Abby? But I digress. ;)

FWIW, you alone know the thought and effort that went into choosing such perfect names, and you will love them (the names and the children LOL) no matter what some others might think, KWIM? I think they're all great choices, btw.
