I am due with my first baby in May and it's supposed to be a girl. I'm just not sure about the name I have picked out >Kamillya RuthAnn< and am curious for input from people other than friends/family. Let me know if it sounds ok or not. If it helps in deciding, it is a biracial baby. Thank you!

I would much prefer:

Camillia RuthAnn

Camilla RuthAnn

Camille RuthAnn

Camden RuthAnn

Cameryn RuthAnn

Are you going to give her a nickname? Cami? Millie?

I think the name itself is great...just don't like the spelling. Creative spellings make me think the parents didn't know how to spell.

I rather like it - it has a traditional sound, but with a bit of a twist. I'm not sure I like the spelling of the fn - I would prefer it spelled either Camellia, if it's pronounce like the flower, or Camilla, if it's pronounced like Prince Charle's new wife. Otherwise, I think it has a nice ring to it.

Kamillya is okay, but RuthAnn just seems "hickish" to me. Its overall not a great name IMO.

Both names are not my style at all, but I prefer the spelling as Camilla and personally I really dislike RuthAnn.

If certain names have family meaning to you though, then go for it regardless!

I'm not sure if you're going for Camilla or the pronunciation kam-il-ya. With that spelling, I would say kam-il-ya (and that kind of reminds me of chameleon, but that may just be me). If it's Camilla, I like it, and the nn Cami is cute. :)

I would just use the regular spelling, though. Camilla or Camillia. If nothing else, in consideration of her future status. People often view unusual spellings - especially ones that are hard to decipher/pronounce - as uneducated, and thus think that of the person they belong to (not that they had any say in their name, but you understand what I'm saying). Think college application, job interview, etc. For example, I can see Camilla on a business woman's name plate ... I cannot honestly say I can see Kamillya. Make sense?

I don't have a problem with RuthAnn, especially if you're using it to honor someone (I only say this because the fn and mn seem to be of slightly different styles). I think it might look a bit better if you just leave it as two mns - Ruth Ann - or even hyphenate it to Ruth-Ann. I think the capital A in the middle of the name just looks a bit off, but that's just my opinion.

HTH! :)

How do you pronounce Kamillya? Im sorry to be so negative. I try not to be but every time I look at this time I see Kill ya. I might go with a C spelling unless theres a specific reason for the K? I am not to sure about RuthAnn, its nms but I do love 2 mn's :), so maybe breaking them up as Ruth Ann might make it look a tad less.....busy? Good luck :)

Honestly? The first thing that popped into my head when I read "Kamillya" was Clamidia. IMO, just doesn't seem like a good choice. Sorry!

I don't like it at all as it stands. I'm sorry. However, it does have great potential. Camilla or Camellia are beautiful, traditional spellings, and I think either one would work, depending on the pronunciation you want. I agree with the previous poster that "creative" spellings for the most part just look uneducated. I also am not a fan of K-names in general. As for RuthAnn, I would suggest going with either Ruth OR Ann. I don't like compounded names like this and agree with the previous poster that it seems "hickish."

Camilla Ruth
Camilla Ann
Camellia Ruth
Camellia Ann

All of these are beautiful names that I would thoroughly advocate!

It's a bit of a mouthful. I also must agree with the others on not going with the alternative spelling. In my opinion it really adds nothing to the name.

I kind of like the sound I think you're going for in Kamillya, I just don't like the spelling. - I think it should be Camelia

I'm not a fan of Ruth in any fashion, and both Ruth and Ann together n the middle there doesn't sound very good as a middle. I guess you're going for trying to have it be for two different people.

good luck though
