LOL! I was just coming to ask if she had googled "Kinsey." Your wiki link is right there on page 1.

Kinsey was my maiden name and a good friend's given name growing up. It worked well for her, and everyone always commented on what an attractive, unique choice it was (and no, no one ever mentioned the Kinsey Reports to either of us LOL), but while I could easily see my sister using it, for example (having the obvious family link for us), I vote "no" for anyone using it at random.

Unlike my friend, who was born in the 1970s, a child named Kinsey today wouldn't have the advantage of it being seen as overly-attractive or unusual in the least. It will simply blend in with all the other trendy K names and Irish-type names, especially (Mac)Kenzie.

Something like Lindsay, Ainsley or Paisley might also appeal, if it's the sound you like. ;)

I wouldn't worry too much about Alfred Kinsey; kids won't know about it and it wouldn't be such a big deal for an adult. That said, I think you'll get a lot of 'ooh, like Kenzie!' comments, which would be enough to put me off of the name.
