Kymani (kee-MON-ee) masculine or feminine?

  • East African male name - but I worry that it's too unisex
  • Sounds like a boy's name
  • Sounds like a girl's name
  • The gender isn't obvious, but I like it!
  • The gender isn't obvious, and I don't like it.
  • Comments are very welcome! Thanks!

This is the name of a son of Bob Marley, the father of reggae. Apparently, it means "adventurous traveler."

If you like or dislike this name strongly, please post and tell me why. Thanks!

I like the name. It has many of the sounds I'm generally drawn too. Kaimani, hmm. I think I like this spelling better. I would expect to see this name on an african american child of either sex. LOVE the nn Kai/Ky!!!

Doh! I just realized that you intended the Key-Mon-ee pronounciation. I like this one too but less than Kaimani. You'll get some mix ups on pronounciations like I just did. I'd go with Kemani/Keymani with your intended pronounciation.

I pronounce it Ky-MON-ee, and it is the name of one of Bob Marley's sons. I absoulutely love the name, and the singer, and begged dh to let me name our son Kymani! He refused! I also love Ky as a nickname!
