Has anyone ever heard of the name Lead or Leed for a boy??( both are pronounced l-EE-d) I have heard that it has a scandanavian history to it. I am also curious as to which spelling you would all prefer.... Does Lead look like it would sound like "Led" ?

I prefer Leed. I would pronounce Lead like "led".

Although we are still unsure about the name itself....I think Leed makes more sense too. Thanks for you opinion!

I'm not familiar with this name. If I saw Leed, I would certainly know how to pronounce it. If I saw Lead, I would have to ask the parents (or child, if he was old enough) how to pronouce it; so to me Lead would be unnecessarily confusing. Plus, the immediate visual association of the name (if spelled "Lead") with the base metal (lead) is not a pleasant one, but maybe that's just me. So, if this were a name I was thinking of using, I would have to go with Leed.

LEED (in all caps) is an acronym for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, which is a rating system to evaluate the environmental performance of a building and encourage market transformation towards sustainable design. But I'm fairly certain most people wouldn't know or care. Besides, sustainability is a good thing!
