My DH and I had this very discusssion -- about four years ago!

For the longest time, he turned down every girl's name I suggested.

I voted for Lillian (so she would have both options as she gets older and may prefer one or the other), but how about some other options, such as Lilliana (like Lillian, but a bit younger and more modern). Just a thought ... hope it helps! :)

I also agree that "Lillian" would give her more options when she is older. She may wish to be called "Lillian" by collegues, but "Lily" by friends.

Lilliana/Lilianna is beautiful too!

Funny you should post this, as I've been having this same debate myself. Lillian is a family name for us and just about the only name we agree on. Both my boys would have been Lillian had either of them been a girl. We also always intended to use the nn Lily for her. DH's mother's name was Elizabeth and Lily can come from that as well. But now that I have two boys whose names do NOT lend themselves to nicknames - Cole & Aiden, I'm debating on just naming her Lily. Don't know what we are having and won't find out though. I'm not a big fan of nicknames. My Cole was going to be Jeffery Cole rather than Cole Jeffery, but we would call him Cole. But I just have a problem with that....I want them named what we will call them. Then I think if we go with Lillian we will call her Lillian cause that is her name...I don't know. I'm so on the fence with this I don't know if I'll know what way we are going to go until we do the birth certificate. And it may be a non-issue since we may have a boy. And I have to say, the poll isn't much help as it looks evenly split. Let me know what you decide.
