I voted for Carys, but I also like Camille. If you were to spell the nn Cami then I would vote for Camille.

Emery Elena - Elena is gorgeous, have you considered using it as a first name? Emery is nice as well, but I prefer some of the other more classic names on your list. Also, I wouldn't pair the 2 together as they begin with the same letter- Emery Caroline sounds best.
Carys Maria - This is gorgeous, it GMV. I am loving Carys lately, it is so prettty and uncommon. I prefer Carys Elena, but both combos are nice
Amelia Caroline - This is gorgeous. I love Amelia, nn Mia is so sweet. I am hearing it popping up quite a bit lately.
Mia Gabrielle - I prefer Mia as a nn for Amelia. It is nice on its own too though, but I prefer it as a nn. Gabrielle is nms
Charlotte (Charlie) ______ - Love Charlotte, dislike Charlie. I love Charlie on a boy, so it seems so masculine. Do you like Lottie? Charlotte Elena is best
Camille (Cammie)______ - Love this. Although I don't love the name, Gabrielle fits best as teh mn
Rowan ______ - prefer this for boys... Rowan Elena is best
Reece ______ - The Reece/Rhys spelling is masculine, Reese is okay. Reese Caroline is best

Faves:
#1) Carys Elena
#2) Camille Gabrielle
#3) Amelia Caroline

Emery Elena -- Emery is a very-masculine boy name

Carys Maria -- Carys is wonderful, and I like it with McMillan

Amelia Caroline -- love this, although it is M-heavy with your ln (I have a Mc- ln too, so I've gone back and forth on this one LOL). Just depends if that would bother you.

Mia Gabrielle -- I'd only use Mia as a nn for Amelia, Maria, etc., but Mia McMillan is definitely too M-ey for me. Gabrielle isn't really my style.

Charlotte (Charlie) ______ -- love this, and Charlotte McMillan is great.

Camille (Cammie)______ -- Camille is lovely, but I'm not sure I'd use such an obviously French fn with a Mc- ln (but that's just me)

Rowan ______ -- Rowan is a great name, but I don't like the -an endings of both Rowan and McMillan together.

Reece ______ -- this is also a male name. Fine as a nn, but not a given name.

Hi! I vote for Carys because that is what I was going to name my baby if our little cutie was a girl but we are having a boy. I love that name but I don't like the middle name at all so I did not vote for any of them. Carys is a Scottish name and Maria is an Italian name. I don't know if this helps but I was going to name my daughter Carys Ainsley and this way both names are Scottish. Good luck with your decision. Take care. Bye

Thank you for the input -- this is just what I was looking for. Others posters are noticing the same things that have been in the back of my mind, which helps a lot.

I am finding it hard to use a family name as the MN (but I really want to) and still use a first name that goes well with our last name. I am greek (hence the Maria, Elena family names) and DH is obviously irish so that is why the UK names go so well. I was thinking the double -an sounds might want to be avoided, I'm glad someone else mentioned the same thing. MIL is Sharmaine Gabrielle, she goes by Charlie. That is where those came from, but I Gabrielle is NMS really.

It is interesting that so many people have suggested using Mia as a nn for Amelia. I don't see the immediate connection, but I think it is cute. I was thinking of it as a form of Maria --> Mia. Same with Emery. Same sounds as Maria (my mom's name) but switched around a bit.

I noticed in the past Emery was a boys name. It has a feminine feel to it, for me. The last time it ranked in the Top 1000 was as a boys names was in the 70s. Then it just came back in 2005 in the Top 1000 but now as a girls name. I like it for either, but prefer it for a girl. Perhaps because I've never known an Emery and I love the 'Em' nicknames without using Emma or Emily.

Another problem is the heavy 'M' in our last name, and in some of the names we like. This is so hard! Thanks for the input...would love to hear suggestions that we may not have thought of!

Hi!
Thanks for the advice. Do you think Carys Elena goes any better than Maria? I am trying to keep a family name and don't have much to work with...

Maria (mom's name)
Elena (aunt's and cousin's name) - could also be Helen or Helena
Andonia (my mn and gma's name) - Greek form of Donna (pronounced on-da-KNEE-uh)
Gabrielle (mil's mn, but nms)

I love Carys as well, I'm glad to hear others do too!

Amelia, Mia and Camille are all too difficult to say with McMillan (esp. Amelia), so I chose Reece for flow. I'd spell it Reese, but that's personal preference.

AJ, enjoying life with C.
