My Husband and I are still searching for a name. Everytime we think we have found one we change our minds. We have 2 daughters Hayley pronounced (Hay-leigh) Marie and Kelsey Elizabeth, both combinations are family names. My husband came across the name Lainey, and liked the combination of Lainey Noelle, I like it but, have some reservations. What are your opinions?

Thanks,

Kellie

Thank you all for your suggestions.

I do really like Delaney with nn Lainey, which is a bit unusual for me because I tend not to like nicknames.

I tend to like names that end in an e sound, as you can probably see, and I think since I have choosen names (not intentionally) that way maybe I should keep the trend.

Hayley is a variation of my Husbands Mothers name and Marie is my Mothers name.

Kelsey is the first half of my name and the last half of her Godmother Kaceys name, her middle name is my Sisters middle name. Since we have choosen "Family Names" I am worried if we change direction now, how will this child feel. At the same time, the only other family members I would want to name my child after are my Grandmothers and I am not very found of or sure how their names would fit in todays society (Roberta and Josephine.)

Soccermom73 I have thought of other spellings for Lainey, hadn't see this spelling, I really like it, thank you for the suggestion. I think Layney would look too similar to Hayley.

Thanks again,

Kellie

Josephine is my main fn option for my fourth daughter, orignally because of the meaning...God will add...which is appropriate for this pregnancy that is a miracle in many ways, and not of my (concious) doing...but my DDs love it and it is really growing on me too. We will probably use Josie as a nn, to fit in with Maggie, Clare and Addie my daughters. Speaking of which, Maggie is actually Magdalene, and it was suggested we use Lainie as an alternate nn for her, so there are other names out there that could end up as Lainey if Delaney isn't your favorite...although it does fit with your other daughters' names beautifully. What about Delaney Robin (instead of Roberta) or Delaney Josephine to get that family connection in there. Just a thought. Good Luck!

Lainey sounds more like a nickname to me but I love Delaney and I think it goes well with your other DD's names. Some other ideas:

Ainsley

Brynley

Rory

Lindsey

I like it. I also like Lacey and Macy with Hayley and Kelsey.

I went to school with a Lainie. I always thought it was a nice, girly name.
