I like the name but there are so many girls named Mackenzie or Mackenna that I think it's going to be confusing for him.

Maybe you could use it as a mn and still call him Max?

I know Mackenzie is a traditional boys name, but I have only heard it on girls. Despite that I actually like it, but I voted for I like it but dislike Max. Not because I actually don't like Max, but because I think Mack is a much better nn for Mackenzie, and it isn't nearly as popular. Good luck!

I MUCH prefer Mackenzie on a boy, and I really only like it if it's a family name. So in your case, I'd probably like it a lot. However, I'm not wild about Max as a nn. I think you can get away with it, but I'd much prefer Mac.

I agree that Mackenzie is so refreshing on a boy! Max isn't however (there's just so many of them, and Mack is such a great nn!). ;) I wouldn't worry about the nn going with your ln, if that helps. Generally he'll be Mackenzie Smith (or whatever) or just Mack, KWIM?

HTH ;)

this has swung way too far to the girls side in the last 12-15 years to even be considered for a boy

wow, you definitely should not do that

I have NEVER known a boy named Mackenzie - I know literally dozens of girls - the oldest about 27, but she was the exception - after that none until about 16 years old on down

years ago there was an actress McKenzie Phillips - she was the daughter of of of the Mamas & Papas singers - she was on a sitcom - I can sorta picture it, but I forget which one exactly

this is a GIRL name

Actually traditionally it is a boy's name... although lately is has become a trendy girl name. But really, its a boy name and now unisex.

Thanks everyone for the input. I think it is definetly going to the top of my list.
