I love Mary Elizabeth, that is what I voted for. I think it is very cute, yet grows up well! Good luck!

I voted for Mary Ellen, but call her Mary, because I think Mary is a very sweet name on it's own. Ellen is also my favorite of the mns listed, but Mary Ellen as a double name is too associated with The Waltons for me.

As far as other suggestions, I really like Mary Katherine, nn Mary Kate. ;)

I voted for Mary Elizabeth, which I love. I also really like Mary on its own.

Other double names I really like: Mary Frances and Mary Kathleen/Mary Katherine/Mary Kate

My great-great-grandmother was Mary Belle (or Marybelle... records that old being somewhat inconsistant), which I always thought was rather nice. It works well with the current mild popularity of Annabelle. Also, as you seem to want both a long and a nickname form, you could go with Mary Isabelle, or it could even be short for Mary Elizabeth, since Isabelle is usually considered a form of Elizabeth, for which Belle is occasionally a nickname.

Mary Belle had a granddaughter called Mary Jan or Mari Jan, which was probably actually Mary Janet as the later is a recurring name in the family. I personally prefer Mary Belle. Of your choices, I definitely prefer Mary Ellen or Mary Beth as the spoken form, both of which strike me as comfy, cosy and classic names, while Mary Jo sounds more dated (perhaps it's the 1980s Designing Women connection?). My favourite common Mary combination might have been Mary Katherine, but I think that name needs a little more time to recover from the Saturday Night Live/Superstar connection, plus the obvious Mary Kate nickname is overwhelmingly owned by a irritating Olsen twin at this point. Mary Rose, Mary Grace and Mary Claire would be other well-known but little-used choices I would endorse.

Some less common but pleasant-sounding (In my opinion, anyway) possibilities would be Mary Stella, Mary Agnes nn Mary Nessa, Mary Arden, Mary Ava, Mary Elizabeth nn Mary Bess, Mary Blythe, Mary Lise (Lise is used as a name in French, taken either from Elisabeth like Lisa, or from the French word for lily, lys, so this could be short for Mary Elizabeth or Mary Lillian), Mary Cecile, Mary Celeste, Mary Charlotte, Mary Dora (could be short for Dorothy/Dorothea, Doreen, Doris), Mary Eden, Mary Eleanor nn Mary Nell or Mary Nora or Mary Lea, Mary Gwen (could be short for Mary Gwendolyn or Mary Guinevere), Mary Honor, Mary Giselle, Mary Glynne, Mary Jess (could be short for Mary Jessica, Mary Jessamine or Mary Janet), Mary Louise, Mary Theresa nn Mary Tess, Mary Violet, Mary Wynne.

I haven't read the other posts yet, so forgive any duplications, but I love Mary Alice, Mary Catherine, Mary Louise, and Mary Charlotte.
