I like the name -- it's very stylish in a non-frilly way. However, I would spell it Meryl if it were me.

I would have voted yes for a different spelling.

Meryl or Merryl I like better.

Just my 2cents.

I like the name, but prefer the speling Meryl, like Meryl Streep :)

I voted no because Merrill to me is an older man's name...I had a couple of teachers name Merrill - one math one science. And then I worked with a teacher name Mr. Merrill. All of the three were kinda dorky, balding, intellectual to the point or nerdy men so that is how I see the spelling of that name.

But Meryl is entirely different -I see that as a strong female name though it does immediately bring the actress to mind.

I like Merrick or Marin better, but I think Merril would be just fine if that's what you like.

Hey There,

I'm not sure if it is the actual name of its founder or what, but there is a financial company that is very well-known called Merrill Lynch (not sure about the spelling--sadly, enough--I used to work there--LOL).

I, too, think it is a man's name, but a very feminine sounding man's name.

How about

I love Merrill for a girl and especially the way you spelled it. It sounds good with your own name and the double rr and ll are beautiful and still easy to pronounce. NN could be Rilla.

If you're still concerned just pair it with a more traditional girls name for a MN and she or you could opt to use that. ie. Merrill Rosalie, Merrill Eleanor, Merrill Cecilia, Merrill Athena etc.
