I realize the majority is voting for Kate because "traditional" ALWAYS wins out on this board over "trendy"
HOWEVER - if your last name starts with a Hard C sound, the same beginning sound as Kate or Kaitlin - you get a little bit of a buffer from the 2nd syllable in Kaitlin - heading into the second Hard C sound - trust me - the one-syllable Kate heading into the hard C sound will sound choppy and the Hard C sound quickly repetetive
good luck
Thanks for the input!
I am worried about using Audrey Kate with our last name beginning with the same sound. Without the last name, I love Audrey Kate. That is why DH suggested using Kaitlin as a middle name. However, I don't know if I like putting a trendy name with a more traditional name. Any thoughts?
I really wanted to use Kathleen as the middle name(my grandmother's middle name), but DH really doesn't like that name. We have been trying to compromise, and use a form of Kathleen or a name that has the same meaning. I love everyone's thoughts and input- thank you so much! Please send anymore suggestions my way!
It was very very hard for me to vote because you see...I was origanlly going to named my daughter Audrey Kate! My great grandmother and mother are both Catherine and I wanted to honor them, but give my daughter her "own" name. But then I began thinking about my MIL, whose mn is Lynn. So in the end, we went with Audrey Katelyn. A little bit of everyone's name. I didn't like the doulbe n on Lynn, and also it changes it just slightly to be her own name. Either way...I adore both names for obvious reasons!!!
I don't think the Kate paired with your ln will really matter unless you call her by both names most of the time...then I would go with Kaitlin. I tend to use both names for my little girl...we gave her both names, why not use them?!
