Here are my thoughts:

Alessandra - Okay... The "alex" names are really popular though, and even though this is slightly differently, it does get lumped in there. I also think people will just assume she is Alexandra
Talia - Beautiful and so strong. GMV
Eva - Okay... I know a lot of others like this, but it has never done anything for me.
Malia - Has a trendy sound to it. I prefer Talia or Dahlia/Dalia
Maya - Nice. I do prefer Mia though, I think it has a sweet, spunkier sound.
Lissette - A bit *too* much, KWIM?
Carissa - Very pretty and feminine
Paris - strongly dislike this
Rio - I have only seen this for boys... dislike it
Gisella - I LOVE Giselle, but Gisella is *too* much. The nn Gigi is adorable for Giselle too

Faves:
#1) Talia
#2) Carissa
#3) Giselle

  • Alessandra - I agree that this will get grouped in with all the other Alex- names (though I like that it is a departure from the literal Alex- beginning )
  • Talia - not bad, but it seems an insubstantial choice if it just sounded "pretty" and there's no special meaning behind it (such as Hebrew or Italian heritage).
  • Eva - gmv. Sweet and simple ... it doesn't seem as "frilly" as some of the others on this list, however. Eveline, Evangeline or Genevieve might also appeal.
  • Malia - I love Mary or Amalia, but Malia doesn't do much for me. If you're Hawaiian, I can see the appeal.
  • Maya - again, not my favorite, though I do like the pp's suggestion of Mia (prefer it as a nn). Given this and Malia, above, Amalia seems a great option for you, since it offers so many similar nns. ;)
  • Lissette - nms
  • Carissa - the -issa type names always seem a bit frilly and "whiney" (I don't mean that exactly, but not sure how else to phrase it LOL), though they're attractive in theory. I'd much prefer the simplicity of Carys, to use a similar example.
  • Paris - seems masculine, given the prince of myth, and trendy, thanks to Ms. Hilton and the whole random place names trend. Again, I like the similar-sounding Carys. ;)
  • Rio - also masculine, a word and random place name (assuming it doesn't have special meaning for you, of course)
  • Gisella - Giselle is a great name, but for some reason I prefer Gisela for the -a ending form (again, unless you're Italian and using Gisella to relfect that)

Carissa got my vote, it is one of my favorites. The rest of them don't really do anything for me, although I do like the suggestion of Carys.

    Good luck!

I voted for Carissa but I like the PP's suggestion of Carys even better.
