I love both Lorelei and Abigail ... Lorali and Abbigail, not so much (you might want to check out this thread http://messageboards.ivillage.com/n/mb/message.asp?webtag=iv-ppbabyname&msg=44573.1&ctx=0 ).

I'm not sure if the "very rare names" comment was meant to apply to this combo, or if you were looking for other suggestions, but Abigail isn't that rare (in the top five names nationwide), and Lorelei is certainly familiar -- it's in the top 1000 -- though not overly-popular.

I think Lorelei Abigail is beautiful, but with both spellings wrong it looks horrible. Spelling names wrong does not make it more unique, it jsut makes it looks lowclass and will give your daughter problems her whole life.

Lorali is actually spelt Lorelei. It is a beautiful name, very classy. I wouldn't call it "rare", but it's not popular either. It is more known after being used in the TV show The Gilmore Girls. On the TV show, Lorelei uses the nn Rory, which is really cute.
Abbigail is actually spelt Abigail. It is pretty and classy, but VERY popular right now. I guess popularity doesn't matter as much in the mn position, but if you are looking for something rare, Abigail (and especially Abbigail) isn't it.

How about...

Lorelei Iris

Lorelei Kimber

Lorelei Corinne

Lorelei Brynn

Lorelei Jacinta

Lorelei Phoebe

Lorelei Sage

Lorelei Delia

Lorelei Marin

Lorelei Ophelia

Lorelei Tierney

Lorelei Wren

Lorelei Aurelia

Lorelei Delphia

Lorelei Pearl

Lorelei Carys

Lorelei Amelie

Lorelei Cecily

Lorelei Romilly

Lorelei Marin

Lorelei Greer

Any of those mn's could also be considered as first names. I like the sound of Lorelei Marin "mare-in" and Lorelei Romilly a lot.

If you like the nn Rory, you could go with Aurora as well, although I wouldn't use the two together (Lorelei Aurora).

HTH, let me know your thoughts

First, if you choose these names please, please, please spell them correctly...Lorelei Abigail. And while I think each name is fine on its own, I do not think they work together at all. Lorelei is unusual and sort of exotic and Abigail sounds like an old, very proper English name. Also, Abigail is very popular now so if you are going for unusual, I think you should avoid it. Additionally, they are both 3 syllable names, and I think that gets a llittle overwhelming (and a little too sing-songy).

If you go with Lorelei, choose something simple to really let it shine:

Lorelei Rose
Lorelei Faith
Lorelei Elise
Lorelei Grace
Lorelei Lark
Lorelei Brynn
Lorelei Shae
Lorelei Jane

With the correct spelling Lorelei Abigail it is nice. The confused looks might have to do with the spelling you are using.
