I would love Emma, if not for its near overwhelming popularity. It's such a simple and pretty name. I've lost count of the number of Emmas I've met, though; it must be dozens by now. To add to the confusion, there are all those Emilys, mispellings of Emily using Emma, such as Emmaleigh, and double names using Emma, which are popular where I live. There's an Emma-Kate, an Emma Katherine, and an Emma Joy at my church, all under the age of 4.
I voted don't like it, but I actually love it. I am very against names that are as popular as Jennifer was in the 80s though, so I would never use this name for my own child. I agree with the pp that coupled with Emma's enormous popularity, the popularity of Emily and all of it's attendant variations (Emmaleigh, Emilie, Emalie, Amelie) your child will most likely meet another Emma or at least another girl with a name that sounds like hers everywhere she goes. It is a beautiful name but it has just been overused.
I'm with the pps. Its a name that is beautiful, but I would never use it because of its popularity. I personally only know one, if you love it and don't mind that its #2, there is no reason not to use it.

I love the name, but it's very popular, at least here in the Midwest.
