Absolutely gorgeous. I love each individually and they are perfect together -- they "go" without being matchy.
Will you call them Sarah and Eleanor, or will you use nicknames? Just curious. (Personally, I'm not much for nicknames, but Sadie and Nora would be awfully adorable!)
I love them - beautiful and classy.
As one of those dozens of Sarahs (who now goes by her middle name), I'm SO over it. It seems so boring, especially next to Eleanor. If you're going to use it, though, I would suggest picking a more unusual middle name (especially if you have a common last name), so she has something to fall back on. Elizabeth must be almost as popular...
There are other classic names that aren't as popular that would make either good first names with Elizabeth or middle names with Sarah.
Josephine
Frances
Helen(a)
Julia(na)
Louise/a
Margaret
Miriam or Marian
Susan/Susanna(h)
Veronica
Victoria
Lucy/Lucia/Lucille
Clara
Cecelia
My favorites would be Susan Elizabeth or Sarah Josephine.
Good luck!
I voted ok even though there is nothing wrong with either name. Stylistically, they couldn't be much more perfect, and they each flow nicely.
My problem is that Sarah Elizabeth as a whole name is extremely well-used. It's a wee-bit more predictable than Eleanor's name. Yet, Katherine is put with Ella, Eva, Emma, and even Eleanor pretty often these days, too.
I hesitate to tweak names that are so tasteful.
What I would be tempted to do (and this is a real shocker coming from me, the one who dislikes nn)-
is nn them-
Liza & Eleanor
or Sadie & Nora
or Liza and Elly
or Betsy & Lena
or Libby & Ellen
or Beth & Kate
Let us know what you decide!

I voted "they're ok" only because Eleanor is nms. I still believe it is a gorgeous name! I heard another name recently that I love, Eloise. I have completly fallen in love with it! Also I love the NN Nora for Eleanor.

Thanks everyone for your responses. The biggest problem is DH and I can't agree on anything ever. When we decided to adopt a little girl, I got to make a list of favs and DH picked Eleanor. Her name is set in stone and on paperwork, etc... already.
Then we decided to adopt a second little girl and it was DH's turn to make a list for me to choose from. I didn't even need to consult you all for help. It took ten seconds to know Sarah was the only name on his list that I'd consider. I also don't like how popular it is, but at least it isn't REALLY trendy (it seems more consistently popular to me). Also stylistically Eleanor and Sarah seem to "go" together, and our girls are likely to be artificial twins (in the same year at school). We don't ever shorten names up and use nns. But I like the pp's idea of using Sarah Beth, and it would help set her apart from all the other Sarahs. Anyway, thanks again!

Congrats on your "twin" girls! When will they be arriving?
I think your names are great, especially with big brothers Benjamin and Samuel (Ben & Sam?). I also think that Sarah Beth and Nora Kate would make great nicknames that go together, but set them apart from the other Sarahs and the other Ella- names out there.
