I like Nathan and Nathaniel equally

I voted for Nathan because it sounds much better with William

Nathan William sounds much better than Nathaniel William - I think it has something to do with the Ls

good luck

Both are nice names. I prefer Nathan a bit BUT I think Nathaniel flows better w/ William than Nathan. Either way you can't go wrong.

I was going to say the same exact thing as the pp. I think Nathan William flows better simply because Nathaniel William has a lot of L sounds. It's still not too bad though, and if you prefer it for whatever reason I think either would work just fine.

HTH!

I ultimately chose to name my 2nd ds Nathan instead of Nathaniel...based soley on the fact that Nathan has less circles to fill in on the standardized tests LOL! And I was going to call him Nathan, so I might as well name him that since it is a name on it's own and not just a nickname for Nathaniel.

I am thinking of the same name for my baby due in March. Frankly, Nathaniel sounds better next to just about any middle name (my pick is Robert). I think naming the baby Nathaniel as a full name - on papers and calling him Nathan or Nate is a good idea.

Good luck!

ITA! Nathan and Nathaniel are both equally GREAT. Nathan sounds best w/ William, though. :)

I think Nathan William sounds a little clipped for some reason. Maybe because the endings are so close. I like Nathaniel much better - and it can always be shortened to Nathan for a nickname. Nathaniel William sounds very distinguished to me.
