Need honest opinions here..........

Okay, so Cameron Joseph is STILL my absolute favorite for baby boy #3. We also have names that we each like that we are hanging onto until we see him once he is born, to be sure the names "fit" him. (For those who don't know, DS #2 was going to be named either Joel or Brett, but we didn't think those names "fit" him after he was born, so he is now Aaron!)

We have Brendan and Aaron. As you can tell, I seem to be drawn to names with that type of ending--Dh's name is Ryan so I think it may stem from that. To make it worse, I love girl names that end with an "A" and I think that is because my name does as well. Crazy, I know.

The whole point to this post is to ask this: Is it too much to have a third boy with that same type of ending sound? AND, do the boys' names all have to sound good together? When I think of a name, I say all 3 boys names together to be sure they sound right to me. My friend tells me I am comletely obsessing over it and to just pick a name to stand on its own. She did that with her boys--she has Pierce and Kyle and is now thinking of her baby #3's name (sex not known until Dec 22nd) and does not even consider her other kids' names when thinking of this next name.

Am I the only one who does it this way? Should we just pick a name that we like and no care if it flows well with the other 2 names? She said eventually it will flow because that is the way it will be.....

Thanks for all your thoughts!
Theresa

I think your friend is right to some degree. As long as your names aren't wildly different (think MaKaylee and Charlotte) I don't think most people will give it a second thought. However, I totally understand the obsessing. And for the record, I think Brendan, Aaron and Cameron sound wonderful together. I don't think the matching endings are a problem at all. I think at this point you are doing exactly the right thing - you have a favorite and some standbys and once you see him, you will know which name is his. Now all you have to do is wait and try not to worry too much. :-)

Its important that a name stand on its own but its equally important that the name be a good fit within the family. I would take your other boys names into account when deciding on the third name.

I think Brendan, Aaron, and Cameron are absolutely perfect together. They sound so nice and I like that they all end in the same sound.

LOL well I personally don't want my kids' names ending similarly! {I like Zachary nn Zach but the fact that it is similar to Nicholas nn Nick is putting me off on it! lol}

BUT I think Brendan, Aaron, and Cameron are awesome together. Why are you even thinking or looking for other names?? LOL ;)

I think either way is fine. It all depends on what you like. If you already have that last name similiar sounding thingy going on i think you should name baby # 3 with the same ending.

I think you should pick a name you really like and not worry about the en/on/an/in/-ender thing

part of me thinks that really traditional names like Benjamin, Alexander, Matthew, Joseph, Thomas, William, etc. would seem off compared especially with Brendan. I also think that because Brendan and Aaron are not names that would/could be shortened to a nickname, you ought to stay with that style.

here are names I think would go well with Brendan and Aaron: Conner, Colin, Colton, Derek, Dylan, Dustin, Eric, Evan, Ethan, Garrett, Gavin, Holden, Hunter, Jared, Justin, Keegan, Kyler, Landon, Mason, Preston, Parker, Payton, Spencer, Skylar, Tanner, Trevor, Tristan.

good luck

I am with you and I DO obsess! I have Collin and Gavin and feel #3 needs to end the same way. My mom tells me "they are individuals" I do know that it just cute how they roll together! Anyhow, I guess it is a matter of personal choice. I am limited on boys names IF I do stay w/ the same ending. It is sad because I love Collin,Gavin and Austin together but am not sure that "Austin" would be my first choice otherwise KWIM?? I even thought I would have to give a girl an "in" ending.

I think Cameron goes perfect with Brendan and Cameron. There are a ton of girl names ending with "a" so you shouldn't have any problems there either!

Good luck!!!
