No baby on the way yet... just planning ahead. Pauline is one of those names that's a stretch for me, but it's been growing on me a lot lately. My dad's mn is Paul, and DH's maternal grandparents are Paul and Pauline. I'd just love to use the name Paul somehow, and if we have another girl, I don't know that I want to waste the chance.
I'm currently thinking Pauline Elizabeth (Elizabeth was my Nana's confirmation name and DH's paternal grandma's mn). My initial suggestion was Elizabeth Alice to honor the three grandmothers, but DH isn't thrilled with Elizabeth as a fn.
Anyway, we're big nickname people, so I was just curious to see what people thought.
TIA,
Stephanie, mom to Megan Joy (nn Meg) and Julianna May (nn Annie)
Have you thought of other versions of Pauline? Like Paulina, Paula or Paola?
I think Paulina sounds a lot more feminine that Pauline. just an idea :-)
I'm not a big fan of Paula, but I have considered Paulina. I didn't know if it sounded too matchy with Julianna, especially next to Megan. I guess Megan, Julianna, and Pauline sounded better together in my mind than Megan, Julianna, and Paulina. What do you think?
Thanks for the thought. I'm certainly not sold on Pauline, just looking for a way to honor the grandmothers should we have another girl.
FWIW, the three remaining grandmothers (we already honored my maternal g'ma) are:
Marilyn Frances Elizabeth
Pauline Alice
Irma Elizabeth
I'd be happy to hear any good combos of those names that go with my girls.
Stephanie
I don't think that Paulina and Julianna sound bad together. I think they are both cute.
That's just my opinion. I think that Pauline sounds frumpy and Paulina sounds cute. I have no idea why.. I just don't like the way Pauline sounds. (I hope that doesn't offend anyone!)
