Okay, I'm just being honest here. I hope it doesn't offend anyone. But, growing up I knew two girls named Nora and both were very nerdy and cried all the time. Sorry, but I associate Nora with that. So, I voted for Meredith! I don't know anyone named Stella, which is also cute.
I do think Collin and Meredith go well together. Stella seems really strong with Collin, it just doesn't fit for me.
We have a couple friends w/ boys named Collin. Siblings are...
Collin & Ellie
Collin, Evan & Lillian
Landen (g), Payden (g) & Collin

Not offended in the least, but to be honest, that kind of makes the name seem even sweeter to me. Assuming you're trying to say they were smart, shy little girls (that's how your statement comes across), I think that's perfectly fine. I'd also assume they wouldn't have cried all the time if people weren't referring to them as "nerdy," not that that had anything to do with the name. LOL
All that aside, unless a name has a terrible association for me, such as an ex-boyfriend, the neighbor who ran over my cat or a bully who tried to make everyone miserable (hypothetical situations btw LOL), it wouldn't affect my view of that particular name. Of course, if they cried all the time because they hated the horrible name their parents had chosen -- Imanerd Kickme, for example -- that might be a different story. But I doubt that was the case. For example, I did have a friend named Bernadette who absolutely hated her name, and DID cry about it on more than one occasion, so I'd probably avoid that name. On the other hand, my best friend for years was named Gretchen, and while she disliked her name as a child, she now loves it (and after telling her for years it was great and to be happy she wasn't one of dozens of Kellis, Jennifers or Jessicas, like me, I have to say I still like it). ;)
Ooooh, and as long as we're discussing school associations, the names of the "popular" girls usually were along the lines of Jennifer, Jessica, Tiffany, etc., all of which seem terribly dated now, while more old-fashioned names like Nora, Lillian, Amelia and Madeline are hot. Just look at Emily -- the number one name for a decade now! My uncle's name -- Jack -- could be another great example. He was often given a hard time because Jack, not John, was his given name. People thought it was bizarre, and even told him that "couldn't" be the case. But look at it now! Jack is hot! It's overwhelmingly popular, and no one seems to care if it's a nn or not. I'm sure they're not letting their past associations with the name stop them. And incidentally, one of the perfect sister names for Jack is ................. Nora! ;)
