Old pet name!

I once had a bird named Lily, only for 6 months and then she flew away. But I'm in love with the litte girls' name Lillian with the N/N Lily. I am NOT choosing this name in memory of my long lost pet I just came upon Lillian and am pretty sure with that name an automatic N/N would be Lily. I had forgotten about the pet until my DH pointed it out!

Is nameing your child the same name as an old pet wierd (even if not on purpose) and should I try and find another or pay no mind?

Thanks in advance!

how odd you would ask this!!!! I was considering Lillian also for a girl but had a dog named Lili and was wondering the same thing. I think though we tend to name animals names we really like before we have children!! I think it would be fine and I love the name!!! I work in a vet clinic and am always hearing beautiful names...I also love the name Chloe which has become popular among animals the last few years!!

I wouldn't worry about it at all - who would think of it but you anyway?

in this case I don't think it's a problem, don't avoid the name you like because of a bird who you had a long time ago who flew away.

if it were dog or cat that you had had for years that you were very very attached to, then I wouldn't recommenend it, but this sounds different from that.

good luck.

I can't believe it. I agree with "soccermom73", and I never agree with her! Seriously, she hates a name, I love it. I love it, she hates it! lol! We have the exact opposite taste in names! But she expressed my sentiments here exactly. It doesn't sound like you had a close, special owner/pet relationship with Lily the Bird...I agree that it might be a little odd if you gave your baby the name of a pet that you currently had, or was a very dear pet who had passed away. But I think in this case, it's perfectly fine. Don't worry about it.

I think it's fine, especially since it wasn't a part of your life for long and you had even forgotten.

Good luck,

I think it is fine too. It is kind of cute and your pet was a bird not a dog-which to me seems better. You also did not have the bird for that long.
