I love it. I have a friend pregnant with #2 and this is at the top of her list too. She already has a little girl named Addison (Addi) and they are thinking Emerson (Emmy) or Eliot (Elly) for this one if it's a girl. Very cute...
Teri Hatcher did it. but I don't care for it. It seems like the same sort of name Addison is. Both are too masculine for a fn for a girl. I like them both as a mn (my family has a history of using surnames as mn's). I like:
Sarah Emerson Anna Emerson Lily Emerson Isabel Emerson Annabel Emerson Frances Emerson Kate Emerson Grace Emerson
all of these work better than Emerson as a fn to me. You could still call her Emmy.
Not really my style, especially with the whole -son trend for girls these days (as someone else mentioned, they know people considering this as a sister to Addison, which also follows this trend ... not to mention Madison, Ellison, Mason, Carson, Jameson, etc. - all of which I've seen used for girls). Frankly, the meaning "son of Emery" really doesn't thrill me, and the fact that it's a brand name (I see it on my microwave several times a day) is another negative for me.
However, if you really like the nn Emmy, there are plenty of lovely names out there that would achieve this. Emeline would be great, and of course there's also Emily, Emma, Emlyn, etc.
I really like Emerson for a girl. It was one that we were considering even though I got alot of negative feedback. We decided against it because I think it's becoming/going to become too popular. I see it on other name sites ALOT!
I like it. Its a fairly trendy name, but its cute. I think its pretty and the nn Emmy is adorable. I would use a more feminine mn though, as Emerson is unisex.

I love the name Emmy but I see Emerson as a boy's name. What about Emmeran for a girl?
