Prophet is a very loaded name, less spiritual and more religious to my ear. Saying the name aloud only emphasizes the fact that prophet and profit are almost homonyms. With that in mind, it sounds even less spiritual.

Sounds like he's born to be a cult leader.

Juggalo is the baby's last name. Its also what I am, a Juggalo (Insane Clown Posse, etc).

My fiance suggested the name Prophet, and I had immediately veto'd it (we were playing 'what shall we name the kids').

After coming up with other names:
Emerald Grace
Zayne Alexander

I walked outside and saw Orion (my favorite constellation) and thought "Prophet Orion". The more I thought about the name Prophet, the more it grew on me. While thinking about it I pictured a sweet little 4 year old boy with blazing blue eyes that are slightly glazed over in a Precious Moments pose with bright toe-headed blonde hair. This is what I was, this is what he will be.

He's well spoken, very polite, and also a Crystal Child (I am an Indigo, and I *know* 2 of my 3 children will be Crystals, one will not).

The name isn't meant to make fun of religion, and lets face it: there are prophets that aren't of an easily offended religion.

Every day that passes that I have that "I wanna be a mommy feeling" thinking about the name makes me glow.

I want to know what others think so I can be prepared to explain when it happens... and people don't catch me completely off guard...

I posted this in another board somewhere and all I got was "you're evil" backlash from so-called Christians, and people commenting on how much S&M was a horrible in-humane monsterous practice... (and I'm not sure how that topic got started!)

I'm Swedish and we not so big on using titles as child names, not titles at lest that are still in use. I can see why Prophet would be a name that you would get bashed about with cause it is title that is given to a person choicen by God in many religions.

My boyfriend says our children will be named Jr 1 and Jr 2 but I think I over turn that, at least we both love the name Alma Elisabeth for our daughter.

A great hints is to check out Behind the name and check out Norse names, their meanings are mystical and I think you would love them.

You could name you daughter

My third son is named Orion, so naturally I love that name. The main problem I have is people just assume it is Ryan the first time I say it, but once they get it right, they remember. My Orion is 2, and we call him Oh-ie sometimes for short, but usually just Orion. I have been surprised recently, because his daddy and brothers used to call him "Smudge" and some relatives called him that, but mainly that was just a family nn, but now that we are calling him Oh-ie more, everyone else is too, including neighbors and such.

I decided to name a baby Orion when I was in 5th grade, and it took me until my 3rd boy to actually do it. However I did give him a more mainstream name for his middle name, Jacob. I don't much like the name, but it is after his grandpa, and I feel better knowing that if he rebels against his name, he can always go by Jake later on in life.

LOVE Orion... really dislike Prophet. Maybe you love it, but i would keep in mind what other people think of the name and if it really brings very strong negative opinions from MANY people (not just a few not liking the name), I don't see why you would want to do that to your son. He will be stuck with the name for his entire life.
