Please say why you chose what you did. I'm really interested in knowing the "why"...
Thanks in advance,
Heather
I chose "NMS, but sounds okay with Tiara" - I would amend that to say, sounds GREAT with Tiara. The only reason I wouldn't use it is because it's becoming so popular. The name itself is very pretty!
My daughter (due in May) will also be mixed black/white, and her name will be Sequoia, which derives from Cherokee. I hope it doesn't get popular. Probably won't, since Toyota "stole" our name for their SUV, lol.
Best of luck to you!
Kira
I want to thank everybody who voted and gave their opinion on the name. We have decided that Trinity will for sure be the name of our little girl (that is, if this baby is a girl... edd is 8.9.05). I know that many have the opinion that Trinity will always be a word to them and a holy word at that... but that makes it even more special to us. We're Christians and as much as I'd like to have my 3rd child be named Trinity (for it means holy 3... Father, Son & Holy Ghost)... I think it sounds good with our daughters name, Tiara (also a word name). I know that both those names are growing in popularity, but it's just settling well with us. We're sticking with TLH initials for all our children... and Trinity seemed to stick very well when we discussed it. If it's a boy it'll be Terrance LaMonte after my DH.
I just wanted to thank everybody for taking the time to answer to this poll. Feel free to leave more opinions, etc. if you'd like. I'll still be reading them...

Our daughter... Tiara LaFaye

Little baby due August 9th, 2005! (Trinity or Terrance)
Heather,
What a beautiful family you have!! Tiara is adorable. I like what you've done with her hair. I have three sons, and now I'm going to have to learn to do a girl's hair ... I'm reading books on braiding. Two of my sons want braids, so I'll practice on them first! I guess it also depends on what my daughter's hair texture is like. Her dad's is pretty tightly curled, though, so I assume hers will be quite curly. (Mine is straight and blonde.)
Again, congratulations on your little one!
Kira
Kira,
You are so sweet! Thanks for the compliments on my family. That's very nice of you. I usually just do Tiara's hair in either 2 piggy tales, one pony tail on top or 2 piggy tale braids. Last week I did 5 braids only because I asked her how she wanted her hair today and she said "5 braids"... it ended up pretty cute though. Her hair is a lot curlier than other mixed girls I know... but thankfully it's still managable for me to do. I'm not very skilled at the fancy braiding yet, but I'd love to learn how to do more fun stuff with her hair. My hair is naturally curly and I straighten it with a blow dryer and flat iron... so sometimes I do that to Tiara's hair too. It looks so cute on her and she always says "I have hair like mommys". She loves to have straight hair. I love the little curly q's that look like phone cords! They're the most perfect little ringlets. I'd be interested to know what book you have on braiding... I should get some too!
With your blonde hair I bet your little ones will have the most beautiful highlights! Tiara's highlights look like strands of copper or gold in the sunlight... I just love it!
When are you due? I can't remember if you told me before or not...

Heather,
The book I've been reading is "Kinki Kreations" by Jena Renae Williams. Here's the link on Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0767913698/qid=1105473491/sr=2-1/ref=pd_ka_b_2_1/002-8949919-8988851
There are a lot of interesting books referenced on that page too! I might need to check them out. One is called "It's All Good Hair - A Guide to Styling and Grooming Black Children's Hair."
That's great how you've found so many things to do with Tiara's hair already. There's always more to learn, I guess! You know, I think Sequoia (name we picked for our daughter) will have very curly hair too. My two older sons are from my previous marriage, and their hair has that ringlet look you described. But my third son, who has the same father as Sequoia, has very curly hair. He can sport a big afro with no problem. He's also tenderheaded - so I think I'd better learn some tricks before his sister is here!
I hope you're right about her hair! Golden highlights would be pretty. My genes are kind of weak in expression, though - my sons look a lot like their fathers. But maybe my girl will resemble me some. I'm due May 20. Seems like forever! Are you going to find out your baby's gender? Are you still in the morning sickness stage?
Kira
Heather,
