I picked "It sounds like it's part of the 'old fashioned' name trend" but I also think it's classy as well as unpretentious and disarming The more I think about it the more I like it. AND I think it's a good sign that there is a photo of Penelope Cruz in the upper righthand side of this board when I open it :p

I voted that it's part of the old-fashioned trend but I don't think it's trendy.

I love this name! I voted for classy, but I could have easily voted for "unpretentious and disarming". And I think it fits in well with the revival of old fashioned names, but it's definitely not part of the trend. A Penelope both fits in and stands out. And I absolutely think it would fit a CEO. I think it's a great name that fits any age and any career.

I voted flowery but I don't view that as a bad thing. Penelope is just all girl to me and I view it as very foo-foo. I really like it though and think it is cute!

I know a Penelope who sometimes goes by Penny - she's a respected attorney, so I can easily see a Penelope as an attorney, a CEO, a doctor, or whatever. What I also like about this name is that it's feminine without being cutesy or silly. Based on your messages, though (outlandish, cutesy, frumpy, flowery, etc.), you seem to have some doubts about it. As great a name as Penelope is, no name works for everyone. Are you considering other names at this point?

Yes, I still am considering other names (but my list keeps changing!). Right now I'm considering Alice, because I think it sounds sweet and unpretentious, Margaret, because it sounds solid and traditional, Anne, because it's down to earth and I like the nickname Annie, Virginia, because it's traditional and feminine without being frilly (I have my doubts about this one too), Jane, because it's simple and strong, and of course Penelope. As you can see from that list, Penelope is a little bit "out there" for me, but I think that it just might work.

For boy's names I keep going back and forth between Peter, Paul, and Mark. Right now Paul and Mark are winning.

I had to go with "other," because many of these would fit, but none would be my first choice (at least not alone).

It's flowery in a frilly/feminine kind of way (definitely NOT frumpy lol), it's cutesy to a point (but more to say it's cute on a child and spunky on an adult), it's definitley an old-fashioned name with a classy feel (given the British and literary vibes), and it's one of the few names I could see suiting an artist or CEO equally well. ;)

Oooo...that made me think of a new idea! What about Antonia with the nickname Annie?
