I voted "OK." If I wasn't familiar with Petra, I would just think it was a "cool" name. Having grown up in a very religious family, however, I have too many associations with it to have an unbiased opinion (it was even the name of a local Christian rock band). I would assume the parents were very religious, for one thing ... not a bad association at all (assuming it isn't for you). Just saying it would be my first thought. It is a neat way to pass Peter on to a dd, if that's what you're going for. ;)
I said I like it. I'd like it even more, but the only problem is that I've heard it pronounced a number of ways and I'm not sure: 1. which is correct 2. which way I like best.
just wanted to say, i would say tradional Greek way, Peh-tra however, i had a friend with this name, she said it, Pay-tra. either way i love how is said. and she carried her name well, saying she loved it. (Pay-tra does sound more feminine)
i'm familiar with the band Petra also, one of the reasons i couldnt use the name, but is a rockin' name (and Petra means Rock in Greek) (btw friend would have ppl ask about the band, never bothered her, she thought it was cool)
for me Petra is up there with Piper, just cool names that rock!
Have you read the "Ender's Game" series of books?

The only Petra I know is the lead singer of this band: www.gaijin55.com
Tall, blonde, and stunning -- that's my image of the name!
It makes me think of Petra Nemcova, a glamorous fashion model. I voted for Like it.

Here are the pronunciations I've heard:
Peh-tra
Pee-tra
Pay-tra
What pronunciation were you going for? :-)

I just had to say those books are awesome! I just finished Shadow of the Giant a few months ago and yes, Petra is an awesome character in that series.
