Gwyneth and Carys are wonderful for sisters! One of the best sib sets I've seen in some time. ;) If you can't tell, that GMV.
Genevieve and Helena would probably be my second choice, and I actually love many of these (Tessa, Eliza and Eloise especially).
I wouldn't pair Eloise and Helena because of the similar sounds, but that's just me. ;) I would avoid Tessa as a fn, however. When paired with your ln, it sounds like the phrase "test the waters." Since it's a family name, though, you might try it or even simply Tess as a mn. Just a thought.

Ooh Tessa and Eliza are awesome - I love it!

I love Gwyneth and Carys, with Genevieve and Helena
I like Genevieve and Susannah or Tessa and Bridget best together as first names.
With middle names maybe Alaina Genevieve and Susannah Elizabeth?
(By the way, I have a friend who pronounces her name, Elena, the same as Alaina, which I think is really pretty.)
Thanks, Gwyneth and Carys are my favorites too!!! But DH isn't as in love with Carys as I am (no pun on the name's meaning intended, haha) so we will see.
I prefer when sibling names come from similar linguistic backgrounds (these are both Welsh, of course) and he thinks I'm CRAZY because of this. He says I have all these crazy rules about names. This after I point out that my sister's and my names (Elizabeth and Rebecca) go well together b/c they are both Hebrew, and I like when siblings name kind of go together in that way. Not necessary, of course, but I think it usually helps. He acts like that is the same as having matching initials or something. He is driving me nuts the past couple of days! He likes names for boys like Logan, Joseph, Bradley, etc. and I just think those are BORING! At least we aren't having a baby any time very soon, LOL. Plenty of time to fight through this process!
Anyway, rant over! I see your point about Tessa, I will think about that. I also LOVE Genevieve, plus it has cute nn's (I like Eve, Evie, Gina).
I can't decide which pron. of Helena I like better (He-LAY-nuh or He-LEEN-uh). WDYT? I lean toward the leen pron. b/c I like the nn Lena.
Thanks for your comments!

Thanks belle_petite for the siggy!
Oh, ITA with you! ;) It's nice when siblings' names have an ethnic link like that, and not at ALL cheesy like matching initials or rhyming names might be. After all, it makes sense that many would use names with similar roots, since those with Irish heritage might use Irish or otherwise Celtic names, some with Italian roots might use Italian names, etc. It's not necessary, of course (after all, an Irish family would be just as prone to use more traditional and/or Biblical names), but it's actually quite odd when siblings have obviously-ethnic names that are totally unrelated. Aidan, Mariska and Imani, for example.
I've only heard Helena pronounced he-LAY-na or sort of like Helen-a (hel-E-na might be closer). I do think you could use Lena as a nn regardless of pronunciation, however. After all, it's literally the end of the name. ;)
