I don't like any of them...way to trendy for me. I would prefer:
Lara McKenna
Lara Addison
Lara Riley
I completely agree. I don't just love any of these names. And, in pop culture, Lara has ony two associations for me: Lara Flynn Boyle, smoker, bulemic, and known for being a b*tch; and Lara Croft, Tomb Raider. Neither of these are connotations I'd want to pass on to my daughter, especially in this Angelina Jolie-obsessed era. The only name on your list that I actually like is Addison, but I wouldn't use it now under any circumstances because of the recent surge of Addisons. Is this because of Gray's Anatomy???
What about Adeline or Adelaide?
Good luck.
Ok, I should have looked at your posting name before I commented on Lara, because if I had, I would have known that you chose it because it was a family name. There are lots of family names that I'm passing on that other people don't like. For instance, my middle name is Victoria, while my mom's name is Vicki. Lots of people on this board seem to think that Victoria is too common and that it's a little trendy, but I can't wait to pass it on to a third generation. I don't care what they think because the names are important to me, so you shouldn't care either.
That said, I DO really like the name Addison. I was just wondering why it's suddenly (and I mean SUDDENLY) become so popular. Although it's a name I love, it just doesn't have the same feel that lots of names that become uber-popular have (Kayleigh, Katelyn, Faith, Jaden, etc.). By that, I mean that it doesn't look misspelled or sound like a name only suitable for a kindergartener. Rather, it's a good, strong name, that seems to fit a doctor or lawyer just as much as it suits a little ballerina.
Truthfully, if I were you, I would probably name her Lara Addison and call her by both (but then again, I'm from the South, where we LOVE our double names). You may not feel the same. Let us know what you decide!
