Lara Mckenna does sound like a pretty little girls name to me. I know my mom would love it if I did choose that combination with our middle name as a first.thanks

Actually I already have a Makenna (Makenna Danielle) and she loves her name. We have a family member named Riley Scott (boy) also. I'm having a really hard time with names right now because there are so many that I like. It's great to see what others tastes are. I have changed my lists since coming on this Board. Lots of good ideas. I still say though that it doesn't matter as much to me if they are trendy or not because all names where trendy at one time or another. Things like Lydia, Camille, Audrey, Clair,Isabelle, Eva, even Scarlett were trendy when my mother was young. So as long as they are not ridiculous I say go for what you love. I just love names and am really enjoying seeing mothers work so hard to find that perfect name, whatever it may be. Good luck to you and your baby. You'll do great!!!

And... if you like emotional surprises, you could keep the name Lara McKenna a secret until your little girl makes her appearance. THAT would be a wonderful moment for your mom...and you!!

Good luck! :)

This may completely turn you off, but I thought I'd suggest it. I gather from your posting name that your first name is Jami (or something like that). Would you consider Lara Jamison, calling her by both? Jamison has a similar feel to Addison, Riley, and McKenna, in that it's more of a surname-sounding name. But, Jamison has another family connection for you. And, I'm glad you're open to the double name thing. I call lots of the children I babysit for by both of their names, even if they usually don't go by both names. I just love hearing how the names sound together.

I prefer both Addison and Jamison about a million times over McKenna, and that has nothing to do with McKenna being trendy and everything to do with me just really NOT liking the name. Also, there's a difference between objecting to a name because it's trendy, and objecting to a name because you're just SO TIRED OF HEARING IT that you could scream. For instance, Caitlin is a name that I generally object to on this board because it's trendy, but the first thousand times I heard it, I really liked it...I just started hating it when it grew a K, several Y's, and a couple of N's at the end.

For some reason, though, none those McKenzie, McKayla, McKenna names ever appealed to me at all, even when they were brand-new. They're just not attractive to me at all, and I'm just ready for them to go away. It's not personal to your name choice, though...I feel the same way about the Brayden, Kayden, Brylan phenomenon.

Lara Riley is awfully pretty, as well as Lara Addison and Lara Jamison.
