Riley...Masculine enough for a boy?

  • I love it!
  • It's okay.
  • Not so much, too girlie.

I'm not sure how to vote on this one. I LOVE the name, matter of fact it's the middle name DH and I have picked for our baby if it's a boy (due 01-05-05). We are not using it as the fn because I'm afraid it's going to the girls.

I voted for just okay, because Riley is nms, but I wanted to say that I don't think it's too girlie at all.

So if you really like it, and that's your only hang up about it, I definitely think of Riley as a boy's name first, and a girl's name second. I think it's suitable for either.

I really like some boy names for girls (Talbot, Chandler, Reese, etc.). But I don't think that makes the name too girlie, it just makes it a name that is shared by both genders. I still love Cameron, Avery, and Bailey best for boys. Obviously, there are some names that have become too feminine, that were once boy names (Meredith, Lindsey, Mallory, for example - hmm, three of my top five girl names - how interesting).

Anyhoo, I think Riley is certainly masculine enough for a boy, even if it isn't my style.

:)

Good luck to you!
