It is a popular dogs name, but I think it's nice nonetheless.

I don't like Sadie, but not because it sounds like a dog or an old lady. It's the similarity to sadism and sadistic that makes me cringe. Sorry.

I think Sadie is very sweet as a nn, so voted "sounds great" (though I'm not sure if you intend to use it as the given name).

I always think the dog reference is hilarious, since Max is overwhelmingly popular AND the number one name for dogs. LOL In fact, I've known dozens of dogs named Max -- even owned one myself years ago -- but never once a Sadie. ;)

If it helps put things in perspective, other popular (top 20) dog names include ...

Jake
Sam
Charlie
Jack

Maggie
Molly
Lucy
Abby
Katie
Annie
Sophie

Sounds like a Kindergarten roster to me! I think you're safe.

I voted that it sounds like a dog, because our friends and neighbors growing up had a dog named Sadie (a very nice dog, lol) and I can't get that out of my head. However, I do think it could be cute on a person, too.

I voted sounds great, but I only like it as a nn for something Susan-based (Susan, Susana, Susanna, Susannah, Susanne, Suzanne, etc)

Isn't Sadie sometimes used as a nickname for Sarah? Just an option for you...

I've known two dogs named Sadie, so I do think of that first, but it would be sweet on a girl.

If we do use Sadie her given name will be Sarah...I guess I should have phrased the poll Sarah nn Sadie
