  • Why Not?
  • I am doing that or have done that already

The same first initial doesn't bother me, but the same first sound does. So Michael Miles sounds worse than Michael Miller. And Brad Branson sounds worse than Bill Branson.

It really depends on the name. Some sound just awesome together and some sound really bad.

I agree with what everyone else said and I want to add one other thing. It also depends on how "common" the initials are. For example Mary Miller or Catie Connors sound ok because "M" and "C/K" a common types of sound. But Victor Valentine doesn't sound as good because the "V" sound isn't one we hear as often. My last name starts with a Z (think 2 syllable German name) and I would never name my kids Zachary or Zoe. Does that make any sense?

I agree with all of the pp's... it really depends on the combo-some sound sensational, and others really don't work. I agree with one of the pp's that having the same first sound doesn't work well (i.e. Leah Lee vs. Lydia Lee). So it's a case by case issue for me, but I wouldn't exclude a name just because the initials were the same :)

I used to be extremely against it as I thought it sounded stupid. But suddenly I've had a change of heart. Some of my favorite names begin with the letter "s" as does our last name. So I might reconsider it.
