Should I name my baby after the deceased father? Is that necessary?

I think it would be a wonderful tribute to name your baby after the deceased father, but I don't think you should feel you have to. There are various ways you could honor him without using his whole name -- you could use the first or last name as one of the baby's name or use the same initials or a different version of one of his names, i.e. Sean instead of John.

His name was Marland, so I am thinking Marley for a little girl or something like that. I just don't want his family to feel like I am forgetting about him.

If the baby is going to have your last name, I would use the "Marland" as the baby's middle name for either a boy or a girl

Well, I didn't vote because I don't think that you should feel obligated to name the child after it's father.
