ok so, for a boy I can most likely say that my favorite name right now is

Finlay

but know that I know that all of my children have 7 letters in there name its kind of bothering me...

so would spelling Finlay

Fionlay - nn Fionn

be stupid??????

I don't know...i don't think it looks stupid, but many may, and if people are going to say they will mispronounce it...What else could they say the name is??? Do I make sense??? Not to mention, mis saying my children names is nothing new to me...

other name I really like is Fionnan

( and It obviously goes REALLY well with my other boys names)

Some others that always stay on the top with boys are :

FN
Fionlay
Fionnan
Kieran
Declan
Cian
Tiernan

MN
Tadhg
Nolan
Grayer
Logan
Leary
Conlan
Ryan
Sean
Addison
Braxton
Deegan
Rogan
Ronan
Keegan
Sawyer

and for girls I honestly have absolutely no new ideas what so ever...I will never pick out a girl name...which is maybe why god gave me all boys...lol

I LIKE a few girls names, but I don't LOVE any of them and I honestly need help...ay new ideas would help...here are the FEW names that i like okay!!!!!!

Finola - nn: Nola and Finn ( i love finn a lot, can you tll!!!!????)
Kiersen - nn: Kierse and Kiera when she is older maybe
Carrigan - nn Cara - ehhh I don't really like it THAT MUCH
Finlay - nn Finn (For a girl???? I have no idea how I feel about this)
Kiera - thats it (something about it doesn't seem finished to me!!!)
Reagan - nn Rea (Ray) a little boring
Sailor - guilty pleasure and doesn't do anything for my boys names
Shaelyn - nn:Shae - i like it but It is a little Made up
Tieghan - Tiegue (I dont love it much

i dont know if you guys have any advice I could use it...i know its early but I really don't even want to deal with this whih is strange because i usually love this part of being prgnant but my heart really isn't in it because it feels like work now...do you know what I mean..Maybe???

thanks for listening

What's wrong with Findlay? Or Fendley? This is the surname of close friends of my family, and one of their daughters used it as a first name recently. They call her Fenn (because their name is spelled with an E...this relates to your question about girl names...yes, I think it's fine to call a girl Finn or Fenn).

I really like these names (I'm just using Findlay, but you decide on the spelling, of course):
Findlay Conlan
Findlay Sawyer
Findlay Tadhg

I'm honestly not crazy about any of the names on your girl list besides Finlay. I would feel bad about saying this, except it seems like you're not all that crazy about them, either.

Here are a *few* that you may like; they're kinda' all over the place, because you never know what may catch your eye:

Findlay
Tierney
Adelaide
Sylvie
Sullivan (I know another girl named this, after some surname in her family.)
Elinor
Morgan
Megan
Isadora
Evangeline
Camille/Camilla
Audrey
Leila
Phoebe
Tatum (pr. tay-tum, another surname)
Bridget (definitely fits with your boys)
Briony (again, fits with the boys)
Charlotte
Eliza
Carenna / Carenna
India
Tess
Cora
Bianca
Astrid
Anastasia
Lenora
Ingrid
Audrey

If you like ANY of these...even if you wouldn't use them...will you let me know? That way, I can get a better feel for what you like. Do the names have to be Irish? Are you more attracted to Irish names, or are your other boys' names just accidentally both Irish? That's a lot of questions. I hope my comments helped some. Maybe you should forget about naming for a week or so, and then come back to. Maybe then you'll feel more positive about it and it won't seem so much like a job...I don't know. Good luck!

Hi Casey!

In my opinion, I think it would be better to use Finlay than try to change the spelling just so your boys will all have 7 letters in their names. I think that the Fionlay spelling might be confusing. If you love it, I'd say go for it. If you're doing it for the 7 letters, I wouldn't. I do like the name though! I also really like Finnian and Findley. From your boy's list, these are my favorites:

Declan Tadhg
Declan Leary
Tiernan Sawyer

I also have more trouble finding girls names that I love. Here are my thoughts on your list:

Finola - nn: Nola and Finn. Love it! - both nns are great too imo.
Kiersen - nn: Kierse and Kiera when she is older maybe - Love it! Prefer nn Kierse to Kiera. Kiera seems a little more on the trendy side to me.
Carrigan - nn Cara - ehhh I don't really like it THAT MUCH - this isn't my favorite either.
Finlay - nn Finn (For a girl???? I have no idea how I feel about this) I much prefer this on a boy. I also don't like having "lay" in a girl's name (probably wouldn't be an issue, but it would still bother me).
Kiera - thats it (something about it doesn't seem finished to me!!!) - I much prefer Kiersen.
Reagan - nn Rea (Ray) a little boring - This is nmsaa. The name and especially nn seem very masculine and don't sound very pretty imo.
Sailor - guilty pleasure and doesn't do anything for my boys names - this name does sound fun in theory but i would never consider using it.
Shaelyn - nn:Shae - i like it but It is a little Made up - i agree that this sounds made up. It is nmsaa.
Tieghan - Tiegue (I dont love it much) I prefer this spelled Teagan nn Teague, but it's nms.

A few other ideas:

Bridget
Glynis
Arden
Jocelyn
Aubrey
Eavan nn Evie
Saoirse
Ailis
Bevin
Mairin
Tierney

I kind of like Fionlay... I would know how to pronounce it. Finley, no matter what the spelling, is a nice name. Maybe Phineas nn Finn? I like Finley Sean.
As for girls, I wouldn't use a Finn name for a girl, sounds awfully masculine to me. None of the girls names really stood out to me, but I LOVE a lot of the boys names.
Good luck :)

Finnley/Finnlay has seven letters as well. I don't know if that is an acceptable spelling of the name, though.

Are your children Braiden, Brennan, and Riordan? I think Declan would sound very nice with those names. Maybe Declan Sawyer or Declan Grayer? For girls Teagan, Carrigan, or Reagan would fit in nice with her brothers. :)
I know what you mean about not being able to find a girl's names. I have 2 boys (not as many as you) and I can think of boy's names no problem and they stand out to me. Girl's names...they don't do it for me and don't pop out at me.

Brace yourself for a novel. I got carried away. Hopefully something in here will be helpful!

I ABSOLUTELY do not think you should limit yourself to a seven-letter name. I guarantee that almost no one will ever even make the connection that your first two boys have the same amount of letters. You've even said before that you didn't realize it for years until someone else pointed it out. I really don't think it's something that should even be a factor in your decision making process for this one.

That said, I think you've got TONS of great names to work with here! Here are my thoughts:

FNs:

Fionlay -- like it, but don't love. Definitely prefer the Finlay spelling.
Fionnan -- Nice. I like Finian better, but I definitely like this one.
Kieran -- love it
Declan -- love it! It's on my list.
Cian -- love it
Tiernan -- again, on my list. And I LOVE Tierney as a mn.

Obviously Declan and Tiernan are my top two choices, but I like all the possibilities

MNs:

Tadhg -- love it, another that's on my list
Nolan -- like it a lot, but it feels very trendy to me. I call it the Owen/Evan/Gavin/Nolan grouping
Grayer -- nice, but popular.
Logan -- very trendy/popular. It's cute, but I'm sick of it
Leary -- nice
Conlan -- love it
Ryan -- love it for a mn
Sean -- love it, also on my list
Addison -- eh, SO trendy
Braxton -- not a fan
Deegan -- like it a lot
Rogan -- okay, much prefer Ronan
Ronan -- love it
Keegan -- love it
Sawyer -- love it, though I think it's getting very trendy

My favorites are easily Tadhg, Conlan, Ryan, Sean, Ronan and Keegan. I'd actually love any of those (except Sean and Ryan) as first names also!

My favorite combinations (using your fn/mn lists) are:

Declan Tadhg

personally I wouldn't know how to pronounce Fionlay, but if you want 7 letters I would add another "n" Finnlay or Finnley then if you do call him "Finn" it's already in there.

Hey guys, thanks for all the suggestions!!!!

To the first poster, sorry I forgot your name, the names you suggested that were okay for me, i honestly didn't LOVE any of them, were Carenna, Briony, and Tierney...

I am looking for an Irish name, my three boys have irish names, Were Irish and everyone else in the family has an "Irish" name, I feel like it would be excluding the last. my dh is Sean Ryan, I am Casey Jean, and my sons are Brennan, Braidy, and Riorden. the only one without an Irish name is our house is uur dog, Kai. So I think it wouldn't work If i didn't use an Irish/y name.

The Girls names that I would honestly even think of using are :
Kiersen
Finola
Aislinn

so far...but I don't love them !!!! There okay, I could live with them, but I don''t really want to.

For boys, I guess you guys are right I don't need or want seven letters in the name...if it does it does, i don't really care...
for boys, my top name as of now are:

Finlay
Fionan
Declan
Tiernan
Kieran
Cian

seems no one has any ideas for girls for me lmao...if i have a girl, she going to end up with no name or a name I hate...I know it

thanks anyway girls...any suggestions would be great

Did you see the list of girls names I suggested? Even if you don't love any of those, if you let me know which of those are the type of name if you are looking for (if any are) I'd be happy to come up with a new list based on that suggestion.

Good luck!
