Why not just Ryan Marie? It's used for many little girls today, and she won't have to tell people how to spell it (or pronounce it) over and over again.

I'm glad I wasn't the first to say it... I couldn't vote either, only cringe. I'm not a fan of Ryan on a girl, but it is doable in the traditional spelling. The others only invite problems, in my opinion.

Ryane I would pronounce as rye-ANNE, in fact I grew up with a girl who spelled and pronounced her name that way. A silent E isn't just 'pretty' or 'feminine', it's functional. I would never pronounce it the same way as Ryan.

There is a Welsh name, Rhian, pronounced REE-un, like Ian with an R in front. Rian is an occasional variant (not likely used by anyone with knowledge of or respect for Welsh culture and language) and I would pronounce it that way... or maybe like Reanne (ree-ANNE, like Brianne with no B), but again, not like Ryan.

Rhyan looks halfway between the two to me, I could see it being Rhian(Rian... REE-un), although a Y wouldn't make the right sound for that in Welsh, or being the same as Ryanne, but you're still not getting a pronounciation like Ryan.

Ryen just looks like a mistake made by a child or a typographical error and, although it is more likely to be pronounced like Ryan than the others, it irks me the most.

If you like a traditionally male name on a girl, you're giving a male name to a girl no matter how you spell it. If anything, giving a male name a 'cute' or 'feminine' spelling seems to me to entrench gender difference and push the baby girl towards a certain expectation of feminine cuteness.

If you are set on Ryan, stick to Ryan. Even better, consider some similar-sounding names. Rhian is lovely, as is its derivative, Rhiannon (ree-ANNE-un... though I'm too young to have a Fleetwood Mac association with that one that I know bothers some people). Ryanne and Reanne are not favourites of mine, but are recognizable and easily pronounced, and much better than any of the choices you gave.

I agree with you Josiedove!

Ryan means Little king and last time I checked, Sweden's King was man and Sweden's queen was a woman.

Why can't people try to find a name meaning little princess or little

I have to agree with the PP. I usually try to vote if at all possible, even if I don't like any of them there is usually one that I dislike the least, but here I just couldnt pick. I don't really care for Ryan on a girl, but if you are going to do it I say spell it Ryan.

I wasn't able to vote. I don't like Ryan for a girl, but even more so I really really don't like any of the spellings you have listed.

I have a friend that used the spelling Ryann so there was no confusion it was a girl when she went to school.

I had chosen Ryann as a mn but pronounced it 'rye-ann'. By sticking another 'n' on the end says 'ann' at the end to me.

Ditto all the previous posts. ;)

Ryan is a male name no matter how you try to alter the spelling, so if you're set on using it for your dd at least spell it Ryan.
