Spelling help?

  • KATESSA
  • CATESSA
  • This is the name we have chosen for our little girl for many, many reasons.
  • Without debate on the name itself, how would you spell it?
  • We liked K better until we realized the first 4 letters spell Kate.
  • Even though the name sounds nothing like it we have two close relatives named
  • Kate w/ a K. So we are thinking of the C instead and it is growing on us
  • Just in case.. it is prn. Kah-Tessa... NN tessa, tess MN Brooke THANKS!!

I didn't vote because I think both spellings will be confused for what you're wanting it to be pronounced like. I would have thought Kate-Tessa or Cat-Tessa.

Didn't really know what to vote, sorry.

I think the C spelling looks much nicer and conveys your desired pronunciation much more clearly (perhaps because it made me think of Contessa? ... also, as you mentioned, the beginning of the K spelling is actually Kate, so many might be apt to pronounce it that way - Kate-essa, KWIM?). I love the nn Tessa, btw. Very sweet. :)

Ps. For what it's worth, I would pronounce Catessa exactly as you mentioned.

I like the C as well, although I actually pronounced both of them the same - just like you explained.

I guessed the correct spelling immediately (from both spellings) but I think you are right that Catessa is more likely to be pronounced correctly in general. Also I think it looks softer and prettier.

My mom has called me Katessa from time to time. Dunno where she came up with it.

I don't see anyone looking at Katessa and thinking it's "Kate-ssa." I do see people seeing Catessa and calling her "deliCatessa."

I'd go with the "K."

Thanks so much everyone! We really appreciate the input... right now looks like we will be going with the C... we have 12 weeks to be sure. But what a lot of you said made sense and really helped!

Thanks again!
