Spelling? (Just curious)
- These are all valid spellings ... just wondered which (if any) most preferred
- Lenorah
- Lenorra
- Lennora
- Leanora
- Leonora
- *I realize these last two would be pronounced slightly differently from the rest
- Just wondering which was most visually appealing

I would just like to note that just because a website or baby names book lists a particular spelling, that doesn't make it "valid." It just means that sometime, somewhere, some parent has used that spelling. I just saw Madysyn in a baby names book the other day, and that most certainly is NOT a "valid" spelling; it's just a popular *misspelling*. Like Mona, I prefer Lenora. It's the simplest and most classic, and the most visually appealing.
That said, since Eleanora is a "valid" name, I guess that of your choices, Leanora would get my vote. Leonora is also a legitimate name, so I like it as well. Sorry, but Lenorah, Lenorra, and Lennora all look a bit ridiculous.

For me the names have different pronunciations, I think you are trying to get Lenora
Of course you CAN, Mona. ;)
I actually have a few personal reasons for not wanting to use Lenora itself and was just toying around with these alternatives I stumbled on (wondered which everyone thought was the nicest visually). I like Leonora/Leanora but prefer the simpler pronunciation a bit.

And along those same lines, just because someone doesn't know the origin of a certain name of spelling doesn't automatically make it "misspelled."
Anyone on here familiar with me knows I don't favor the misspelling of names, especially traditional, well-known ones.
However, these are not random alternate spellings of Lenora listed in one dime-store name book. That's why I made sure to point out they are valid spellings, meaning I have seen them used IRL, know most of their origins (not all of which are the name Eleanor/Helen, etc.) and are considered "real" names by nearly every name book and site I consulted.
I am not pregnant and therefore not offended by this, just wanted to point out that this was just to see which of these others found most visually appealing (so in your case, a simple vote for Leanora or Leonora would suffice).
Thanks.

Ps. FWIW, I wouldn't lump any of these names in with the Madysyn craze, so that comparison doesn't really apply here. These are phonetically-sound with the proper flow of consonants and vowels without a random Y or -son/-syn for a girl in sight. ;)

LOL Thank you. ;)
I have reasons for not wanting to use Lenora itself if and when the time comes ... just wondered which of these alternatives others liked best.

I voted for Leonora, which I think is lovely.
I really dislike any ending except "nora" for some reason. The "norra" or "norah" endings just look off to me somehow. (Even though I actually do like Norah as a given name. I never claimed to be logical. )
Also, I think that if you wanted to, you could feasibly pronounce the last two the same as the first half of the group. After all, we don't pronounce Eleanor as El-ee-uh-nor.
Ooh, good point about the pronunciation of the last two, Annie. One of the origins given for the Leanora spelling actually was Eleanora, and of course I didn't even notice the beginning "E" had simply been dropped (so the Lenora pronunciation would make perfect sense). We actually have a Leonora (pron. Leeya-nora with an Italian accent and extra half-syllable if you KWIM -- which I'm sure you do LOL) on my grandmother's Sicialian side of the family, so I just naturally assumed both Leonora and Leanora would automatically be pronounced like this. ;)
I also agree totally about the -norra ending (looked off to me too, and was definitely my least favorite, but I left it in there to see if anyone else liked it ... just being thorough LOL). I was iffy on the -norah ending as well, but I'm fickle about Nora/Norah so thought I might like it better another day (I'm never sure which spelling I prefer LOL).
Thanks for the input.
