My first thought was "kidney," so I'll pass ;)

I absolutely LOVE the name Stone!!!! Great choice. It would be at the top of my list, but I have a son named Brock. (Brock and Stone would be too silly together!)

Great choice - so strong and masculine. What middle name are you thinking of using? I like Stone Edward and Stone William!

Stone is nmsaa, I'm afraid. It doesn't feel like a harmonious style match for Annelise (such a beautiful name, btw. I love it.)

PLEASE don't be offended, but Stone is something of a pet peeve name for me. Perhaps in response to all the baby girls named Aidan, Connor, Spencer, and Jameson, there seems to be a trend in boy names that I call the "penis-metaphor names": harsh--somewhat cruel-- sounding word names that seek to overwhelm with their masculinity. These include things that are hard (Stone, Steel), things that are rigid or phallic (Ridge, Thorne, Spike), things that are heavy machinery (Jet, Ford, Speed), and things that kill and destroy (Blade, Blaze, Hunter). Many of these objects are genuinely ugly.

Again, this is just my opinion, and when I come across a name issue I feel strongly about, it's hard for me to be objective, so take my comments with a grain of salt. I just think Annelise's little brother deserves a name as deep and lovely as hers.

I'm not offended. :) I think Stone is the only "penis-metaphor names" (lol) names I like. I didn't care for any of the other examples you listed. I'm really at a loss for boys names. My two favorites are Beau and Rhett but DH doesn't like either one of those. He didn't really give an opinion on Stone.

All: Thanks for the imput. :)

Right now Alexander will be the middle name. It's way too popular to be a first name. The middle name may change also.

I agree wtih allietx529. It doesn't help, for me, that those kinds of names are prevalent on soap operas, which just make me cringe. Whenever I used to watch them I'd think "who would honestly name a little baby boy something like 'Ridge' or 'Blade'"...but since venturing into the name boards world I have come to realize that those names are very much to the taste of some. They still make me cringe!
I also wanted to add that my first thoughts were "stoner" and "stoned", which are probably not associations you're chomping at the bit for!

P.S. I also really like Annelise. Very pretty! And she's cute as a button!

Okay, Stone as to go off the list now. I don't want "stoner" or "stoned" when they saw my kid's name. Why I'd never use "Mary Jane." I don't want any drug references. Thanks. :)

Thanks, keep those Swedish/Scandinavian names coming. I'd love a name like that to honor my mom's side of the family. I'll add your suggestions to my list to ask DH about.
