I'm really sorry. I must be missing the appeal in Talon. I can't imagine naming a child after the claw of a bird of prey. It sounds very aggressive and more fitting on a character from a Sci Fi movie or something. I really, really, really dislike it.

My middle child is Talon, so I love the name :) We tried to give our kids more 'normal' middle names, in case they decide they hate their names, but it did not entirely work for Talon, lol. He ended up with Talon Archer, because I needed an 'A' name after my grandmother. And we think Archer is a family name, but never actually confirmed it. We almost named him Talon Avery, which I still love.

So far people really like his name, and it suits him perfectly. Most people understand his name right away, even when he says it (he's 4), but if he thinks someone did not get it, he'll spell it for them. I have much more trouble with his little brother Orion. Also, the cool thing about using such an unusual name is people don't forget it very easily. I had a woman hear me call him Talon and she came up to me and said she had met him, so we went through all the places we could have crossed paths, and it turns out she'd seen him and his grandmother at the park about a month back, lol.

I have seen one other Talon online (he'd be 6 now), but never met one IRL. Oh, but I've seen a few girl 'Talyn's online, never in real life.

We have a Talon in our family also and he's in his early twenties now. He always gets alot of compliments on his name. I don't think of a bird when I hear it at all. I really like it. I guess it helps when you know one personally.

I generally don't like violent names or soap opera names, so, as you can imagine, I really don't like Talon Blade. Talon makes me think of a hawk ripping apart its prey and Blade reminds me of a knife cutting through something. Not pleasant images.
