my vote went to Gwyneth Talulla - very pretty. I hate to disagree with such great minds like Annie and you :-), but I think that Mairenn is too confusing. Please note that I am a simple girl, but Mairenn is too hard to say and spell for me. I do like the Molly part!
Brooke
Talulla Cecily and Talulla Jane are both beautiful. I also like Talulla Mairenn, nn Tam. The one mn listed that I don't like is Pearl (ooh, it hurt to write that!). Pearl almost seems to pull the name out of Ireland and plant it firmly in Georgia, more Tallulah than Talulla.
Thanks, Allie. Awesome point about Pearl, btw! I think you're right putting the combo in the Tallulah camp -- which I've nothing against, of course, but it may be why Pearl hasn't been my favorite here, though I love it otherwise. Your reasoning makes perfect sense, though, and I hadn't been able to put my finger on it until now. So thanks! ;)

Thanks, Annie ... so we agree that Mairenn McCormick is doable? You know I'm generally not into the alliteration -- a la Kelli Kinsey LOL -- but this one really doesn't sound too "off" to me. And Molly as a nn just seems a natural fit with McCormick anyhow, so that certainly doesn't bother me. LOL
I respect and value your opinion, so if you say it works I'm keeping it. LOL It's moved up to #4 recently, btw, if you've seen the Personal Top 5 thread from a while back. ;) Talulla, Gwyneth, Imogen and Mairenn are my solid top four, actually, so I feel well-prepared if we should ever need them. LOL I know you can appreciate that.
Talk soon (still waiting on that email )! I'll be on more a bit later when the girls are in bed. ;)

just fyi regarding Mairenn, I don't think that "rhymes with Lauren" is a very clear description, considering the various ways people pronounce Lauren: LORE-en, LAWR-en, LAHR-en. I personally pronounce it LORE-en, but I know most east-coasters don't. I was confused until you wrote it out : )
You got me, Valerie. I actually put that purposefully, because Mairenn CAN be pronounced MORE-en/MOI-ren, MAWR-en, MAHR-en, etc. ... exactly the same situation as Lauren.
You're right, though -- I'm in PA and my cousin Lauren is LAWR-en (and that is the pronunciation I prefer for Mairenn, as you've already seen, but I actually like them all ... it's just what I think works best with McCormick). ;)

Sidenote, Hayes also had a rare mignight wake up last night. Luckily he went right back to sleep with a little rocking. Last night when I asked him why he woke up he told me he was "too hot", but this morning when I asked him "what happened last night buddy?" his response was "I cry" and I asked him why and he said "Need mommy rock" Hmm, the little bugger!
Wonder what was up with those kids? LOL I often get her up to nurse around 11:30 when Jay gets home from work (so he can see her a bit), but last night she just woke up around 2:30 for some reason and did NOT want to go back to sleep. She nursed, then wanted to climb down and play (and I know when she's that awake she isn't going right back to bed so I let her LOL). Then she told me she was hungry (she signes a few things ... not much "talking" yet LOL), so she had some pancakes, which I figured were heavy enough to knock her out. They always do me! Then she had some milk and played a bit more and FINALLY signed to nurse again (I figured that meant bedtime!) ... sadly, she disagreed. I was so out of it, I finally let her cry a minute while I was in the bathroom and wouldn't you know, she finally lay down and went back to sleep. I think she just wanted to play! LOL
Here's to no repeats for either of us tonight! ;)

Thanks for the comments, Brooke. I missed them in the cross-post earlier (I was replying to the others when yours came up, apparently). ;)
I've been thinking about it a lot this evening and really it would be silly for me to worry TOO much about the spelling/pronunciation issues, already having Devanie. LOL Kind of a double standard if I gave up on a name I've liked for quite some time simply because it might take a correction or two (or three!) before someone got it.
Don't get me wrong ... I'd never advocate an unusual spelling for a very common name (a la my own Kelli-with-an-"i" LOL), but along those same lines I also wouldn't condone changing the spelling of a name -- especially a less common one -- to encourage the proper pronunciation (excepting often-used Anglicizations). All that to say that I figure the worst most will do is assume it's said MAYR-en, and really how terrible is that? It's not. It's close, and quite frankly a better attempt than, say, doo-VAYN for Devanie (she's gotten it LOL). So I'm ok with that. ;) But I do appreciate the feedback! Disagree anytime ... that's why I posted these. I WANT to know what you think. LOL

Haha, good to know... well then in my mind that's sort of a vote against Mairenn for me. The prn is unclear from the spelling, and to hear as a response, "well, you can pronounce it this way, or this way, or this way..." might be even more confusing in real life if you kwim. Btw, I'm also in PA (Philly right now) and grew up here too, but both of my parents are from the midwest, so I'm quite aware of the Lauren thing and similar pronunciation issues. Many names are off my list for the same reason.
Sorry to be a downer : )
Oh, Valerie ... be a downer all you want! LOL
Of course, if I used the name and someone assumed it was MORE-en, for instance, I wouldn't actually SAY "well you can pronounce it as this, this or this, but we use this ..." KWIM? LOL I'd either ignore it -- like I did the man who kept calling Devanie "Stephanie" at a picnic the other day LOL ... Stephanie she was -- or cheerfully explain "it's actually MAWR-en, but you were close enough!" ;) Just as I'm sure my cousin Lauren doesn't get too upset if someone calls her LORE-en. Actually, especially since you mentioned the midwest thing (all my in-laws live outside Chicago ), I really don't view them so much as different pronunciations as simple variances in dialect, KWIM?
On a sidenote, when my MIL and FIL were visiting a few weeks back, we DID happen to see my cousin Lauren, and they did say it LAWR-en,

hmm...Devanie seems pretty straight forward to me. Maybe it is the double NN in Mairenn that throws me for a loop. Then with Mairin, I just look at it and want it to be Maren. I know that Mairin and Maren are different, but I am dyslexic (that's one reason I like simple names) and the Mairin spelling makes me feel like my brain is tricking me. That is my own crazy issue :-)
Brooke
Anyway, DF and I grew up out on the main line, and we plan to stick around the general burbs for a good long while. Maybe we'll see you around ; )
