Thank you! Dh and I have finally agreed on a name. We love Tana Carys. I think this is the 'one', if we have a girl. Now we just have to get pregnant, lol. We're waiting until next spring to start TTC. I'm getting rather antsy.

Carys is beautiful. I voted "like it" because Tana is just okay to me. I LOVE Carys though.

How are you pronouncing Tana? Like Donna?

This name is okay in my book. My tongue doesn't know what to do with that y though. Is it Caris or Carries? I'm pretty rusty at this naming thing I guess.

Oh and is Tana Tay-na or Tan-ah?

I guess my pronunciation preference (aliteration anyone?) would be (not that you are asking)...
Tay-na Caris

I can answer this one for belle_petite! Tana is tan-uh, not like Donna. Carys is pronounced care-iss. It's Welsh for "love," and is the first name of Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones's daughter.

Sorry to hijack your answer, belle_petite...thought you'd want this one answered sooner rather than later!

I still love this name!

Given ab's explanation let me clarify my stance on Tan-uh Care-iss.

It's kinda cute. And it helps that I just saw Carys in the baby name wizard book which puts some heft behind it's sturdiness.

Prepare yourself to correct everyone and go mad about them getting it wrong. If you aren't all jacked up about that like I am then this name is a shoo-in for you.

No, not like Donna. Like 'tan-uh', like in the word Montana. I would never use it if it sounded like Tonna.

Tana = 'tan-uh'

Carys = 'cuh-riss'
