Thanks! For Carys I would put the emphasis a little differently than you did 'cuh-riss', basically the same you said, though. If I was to say it like Donna I'd spell it like Tonna and this name does nothing for me. I'm loving Tana Carys, too.
You can call me Terra instead of belle_petite. :)

Didn't think it was possible, but I actually like the name MORE now that I hear it the way that you do!

Lol, that's funny. I wasn't 100% sure how to pronounce it so I googled it and a site said it was pronounced like 'cah-riss' but when 'I' say it it's like 'cuh-riss'. Pretty much the same thing I guess. Very nice name...if one knows how to pronounce it, lol. There is the possiblity of spelling Tana like Tanna but I prefer one 'n'. I guess people that say Ann as 'on' would want to pronounce it like Tonna, which is odd for me because I say Ann differently like in the word 'tan' or the name 'Dan'.

Maybe it's just me, but I had no trouble pronouncing Tana. Of course, I watched The Apprentice the season that one of the contestants was named Tana, so that probably has something to do with it. I'm turned off by the second N (Tanna), and the only other way I can think of to clarify the pronunciation is to add an N and an H at the end (Tannah), which also turns me off. I don't know what to tell you. It looks simple enough to me...T-A-N-A = tan-uh. But, I grew up with a name that looks like kindergarten spelling (Alane= ah-layn) and I got called everything from Elaine (despite the obvious A at the beginning) to Alana to Arlene.

And my only reference for Carys was hearing everyone on television pronounce Catherine Zeta-Jones's daughter's name; otherwise, only God knows what I would have come up with!

Dh and I were discussing the spelling today. If anything, I could see Tana getting mistaken for Dana with a T. With Tanna, the name Anna is right in it so we think it would get pronounced the way it should. I like the spelling Tanna and Tannah, but I do prefer Tana. Ahhh, something else to think about, lol. Thanks for the suggestion of Tannah, I never thought of that one until I read your post, although you don't like it, lol. Tannah is very similar to Hannah, you wouldn't think it would get mispronounced. I never even thought of Tana rhyming with Hannah until now, lol. Hmm.

Ha! The saga continues...

If your aim is to make the pronunciation crystal clear from the spelling (which isn't a bad aim at all), then I prefer Tannah 100% over Tanna. I don't know why. I think it's because Tanna reminds me of a tannery, and dead cow hide is never a good thought. :-)

Again, my own personal experiences have colored my opinion. The only Dana I know pronounces her name dan-uh, not day-nuh, so either way, your pronuciation of Tana was clear to me. Also, Hanna is another spelling of Hannah, and the Hanna I know pronounces her name hah-nah, not hann-uh, so there again, maybe the people I know are just screwed up.

Hmmm... Tannah Carys Tana Carys Tanna Carys

At this point, I'm willing to change my vote to Tannah Carys. I'd HATE for an innocent child to be tay-nuh or tah-nuh all her life!

I remember a while back that you were lamenting about your name search being over! Ha, ha, ha! This is God's way of getting you back for being so certain! I'm going to laugh and laugh if you end up having 5 boys!

IF we have a girl then we will either spell it Tana or Tannah, not Tanna. I'm leaning more towards Tannah so it is pronounced properly. I went to school with twin boys, Dana and Cory, and Dana was pronounced 'day-na'. I don't know any Hannah's. The only thing about spelling it like Tannah, it looks more made up to me and is just a little bit different from Hannah. Tana (spelled this way) looks like a name on its own and I don't relate it to Hannah at all. You know you're probably right, I'll probably end up with 4 boys anyhow....not 5, lol.

Tannah Carys

Tana Carys

I still like the 2nd the best. (sigh)
