Just echoing the other replies ... LOVE Thaddeus, and it's true. If the poll were about a trendy/popular name you'd probably get all positive votes. The split, to me, says it's just unique enough (though still a familiar name, KWIM?). Nice. ;)
I have only heard the nn Thad mentioned. Is Tad a common nn for Thaddeus as well? (with Thad being pronounced with the "th" sound and Tad being a hard "t"- correct?)
I've also seen Jude as a nn for Thaddeus (if you're familiar with the Biblical character, Thaddeus also went by the name Jude). Just a little sidenote. ;)
Yes, both Thad and Tad (pronounced as you described) are common nicknames for Thaddeus. I think both are very nice, but I LOVE Tad. To me it has a very cool, sporty feel to it. Thaddeus sounds smart and scholarly to me -- which I also love -- and the nickname Tad balanced that and seems well rounded.
Hmmm... know I'm not sure which I like better- Thad or Tad. I think Thad is still my favourite, I will have to think on that though.
I do love the name Jude and wasn't aware it was a nn for Thaddeus. Do you think in present day, though, that he would get weird looks using the nn Jude from Thaddeus? Or is it common knowledge that it is a nn?
Aw, man. What's wrong with you people? :)
Two big ole thumbs UP from me!

Guess this is why the world is full of Jadens and Aidans and Bradens.

Also, Tate isn't too far of a stretch.
