I was torn between Kate and Vivian, but would prefer Kate as a shortened form of a longer name. I also really like Claire, but not Clara.
Since you're going for "traditional" names, that would immediately rule out Noble (a word, never heard it as a name), Rowan (a boys name), Addison (trendy, not traditional so much) and Reagan (a president, surname, or the little girl from the Excorcist), in my mind.
Perhaps some more traditional names with similar sounds/feels could be:
Nora(h)
Rose
Adeline/Adelaide
Rachel
Anyway, just a thought. HTH!

Hi,
I like all of these except Julianne and Chelsea.

Thanks for your feedback. It is very helpful! I was curious about your reaction to Rowan. I found it in a baby names book in the girl's Irish names section. After I started talking to my friends about it I found out that Brooke Shields had just named her baby girl Rowan (which made me not like it quite as much). And then finally I have a male friend from New York who said he dated two female Rowans while he was growing up. Apparently there is a big Irish community in New York and it's popular among the girls there or it was 10 years ago.
So do you know any male Rowans? Since I have started researching it, I have found it in the male section of many baby name books but I only know of girls with the name. Any info you have will be helpful.
Thanks so much!
I think Rowan is one of those traditionally male names that has recently become "acceptable" to use as a female name, as is the current trend (Brooke Shields, as you mentioned, is the first and only person I've ever heard of actually using it on a girl, so I'd just always assumed since then it was one of those trendy boy-names-for-girls things, which definitely turns me off).
I have, however, seen it listed in the girls section of certain baby name books. The only difference I've noticed is that when listed as a girls name, it lists no other forms and often mentions that it has been, up until now, a more commonly masculine name. On the other hand, when listed for boys, it often lists the varients Roan, Roane or Ruadhan (which I believe was the Gaelic spelling, if I've remembered correctly), so I think this is definitely a boys name that is only recently becoming popular/trendy for girls.
I've only known of two Rowans, both boys, and the name also brings to mind the English actor Rowan Atkinson (aka Mr. Bean lol), so to me the name is all boy. :)
Anyway, that's about all I have to offer without actually looking it up again. Hope it helps! :)

OK , here's my thoughts:
Kate--I love Kate as a nn, but not so much as the full name, limits her choices, KWIM?
Chelsea--hmmm, sorry, lil Ms. Clinton ruined this name for me. I will always see a frizzy haired-big tooth awkward girl when I hear this name. Although she has kind of grown into her face now. And I think I liked this name before she came along if that helps any? LOL yeah right
Noble--I like this in the mn spot, especially cause you said it was to honor grandma
Clara--personally, I like Claire better
Julianne--not a fave of mine, but its ok, i think its just a little "dated" to me
Georgia--I like this name, but don't see it as a "traditional" name at all
Rowan--sorry, this one belongs to the boys IMO
Addison--nms
Reagan--I liked this name at first, til I found out it was that freaky chicks name from the Excorcist, now it just scares me
Vivian--this one is the one i voted for. I think it has that traditional, not too overdone feel that you sound like you are looking for. Viv is a cute adult nn, Vivi is an adorable girl nn. This is a name that would "wear" well with a child on into adulthood.
Vivian Noble sounds like a great choice to me. HTH's a bit :)
