Verity or Alethea? - both mean 'truth'

  • Verity - as it sounds
  • Alethea/Aletheia = a-layth-ee-a

My name is Alison and it means truthful (well, that's one of it's meanings...)

I voted for Verity out of the two.

Good luck,
Ali

As an alternative to Alethea, I knew a lady named Alatha, pronounced a-LAY-tha. I would expect it has the same meaning.

I've always liked Verity. Not sure why, but the sound really appeals to me (and the meaning is a plus too). Good luck! :)

Just to say hello and let you know that my name is Verity and although i'm now 28 and i actually like the name it has taken all this time for me to come round to it!
When i was growing up i hated it and got a lot of stick for it at school and i hated having to say it as people ALWAYS ask you to repeat it!
I was named after David Essex' daughter who is also called Verity (my mum ws a BIG fan!!)
When i was about 10 i ended up with the nickname Vez and this has stuck with me for 18 years even at work i was Vez but since i've started my new job i've taken to Verity as it sounds posher!!

I like the sound of the word Verity better than the word Alethea. However, Verity sounds like the name of a bank or financial services company.
