Want some honest opinions

Hi. I'm pregnant with my first, just found out, pretty unexpected...but welcome! Both my fiance and I love the name Boone Alexander Zimmerman for a boy and Saraid Louisa Zimmerman for a girl. Are these names, although we really like them, going to cause problems for our child? I didn't feel insecure about the names I like until I told my father, who is starry-eyed about becoming a grandfather, that I would name the baby Boone if it was a boy. He looked rather mortified, and then lectured me about the benefits of a "normal" name in society, i.e. school, jobs, ect. He seemed to think it was selfish of me to stick my kid with such an "odd" name, but I love it! I don't think its odd. I really need some outside opinions!

I really like Boone Alexander -- I don't think it's weird at all. I know a Boone who is in college now - that was his mother's maiden name. The only other Boone I know is called that as a nickname (his real name is Daniel).
I'm not wild about Saraid Louisa. For one, I don't know how to pronounce Saraid. It looks pretty exotic, but not awful. It might cause some pronounciation and spelling issues, but if it has a special meaning to you, most people would be able to deal with it. Personally, I would prefer just plain Sara Louisa (my sister is actually Sara Louise, but that's beside the point!).
Bottom line, these names are unusual, but not really "odd". OK, I'll admit, I think Saraid is a litte "odd", but "odd" doesn't necessarily mean bad. I would say, don't really discuss them with your dad and just use what you want. He'll love the child either way.
I'm with your dad on Boone - sorry.
I think it is too odd for a first name
Saraid isn't my style, I'm not sure how you pronounce that. I don't like that it ends in "raid".
I don't know. I think maybe you should think up a few other choices to have in the mix.
good luck
I like Boone.

Pick two names that you and your fiance love. Period.
:-)
As for my honest opinion - I love the name Boone Alexander. Very dapper, debonair. Very nice indeed. I'm not so in love w/ Saraid Louisa. Louisa is a long-time favorite of mine but I've never seen or heard of Saraid.
Good luck and congratulations!
I like that you have chosen names that are not so common that there will be 3 in a classroom. I think Boone Alexander is a nice name...it is unique but not so out there that I would give a strange look to someone who introduced themselves to me.
I think Saraid is beautiful but something isn't just right. Maybe it's the spelling... how about making it more feminine by adding an e to the end- Saraide. Or even spell it Sarade? No matter how you spell it she will probably always have to correct the pronunciation. I have always like the nickname Sadey- that would be cute too.
I usually like traditional names, but have no problem with Boone. It's masculine and easy to pronounce. Boone Alexander has a nice flow.
I'm not so crazy about Saraid. It reminds me too much of serrate (as in serrated knife). Louisa is pretty.
I like Boone. If you wonted to you could always use Alexander Boone, still call him Boone and maybe your Dad wouldn't be so put off by that. Those two name go very well together no mater what order.
I'm not to big on Sariad. But we did chose a name very similar for our DD her name is Sariah. (like Mariah but with a S) Some family members disliked it at first. But they got over it. I think they just need to see it work on the baby, and now they can't imagine anything else.
Good luck with all of this...Just chose whatever you like. Everyone else will learn to love it.
