We have an Isaac that we exclusively call "Ike". I love his name! But I didn't know if you'd consider Ike (I don't care for just Isaac as much), so I voted for Silas. A lady from church just had a baby last Sunday and named him Silas. Very fresh sounding!
My last post didn't post?? Anyway, does anyone want to elaborate on why they picked the name they did? This has been such a hard decision for DH and me!
you make a good point about the J- names. And I'm not a fan of the nn "Jo/Joe" AT ALL. BUT i like the name Jonas. AH! We actually thought that was set in stone until recently when we started questioning it. The poll is so close it's not helping! :) We are definitely leaning more towards Silas and Jonas than Isaac mainly because we like less common names, and our other children don't have common names either. Thanks for your post!
I chose Jonas, b/c I love the name. It has an artsy feeling to me, but boyish at the same time. I don't like names that are gender neutral or unisex, and your names are all great at being definitely boy. A friend of mine is due in Nov and is naming her son Jonas Augustine.
Silas is my second favorite it's very fresh sounding and I think will grow up well.
i voted for Silas. I liked that its different, not heard every day. Isaac is a hard name to me...i can never spell it correct. I love the nn Ike though and it was on my list at one point for our son - i just couldn't get past the speling issue.
And jonas was also on our list (i think we had every name! :)) That would probably be my 2nd choice - but i think Silas is stronger.
I hope that helps. I know how tough it is and when these polls give close results, just makes it even harder. I would try a name out for a week, use it in conversation, etc to see how it felt. But as much as we debated on our 3wk olds name and i even hated it at one point - i really love it now. He is his name and your son will become his name whichever name you choose. Good luck and i hope that helped
We named our 2nd son Zane. We had decided on it and then i changed my mind and we started looking at all these other names. Zane was still my dh #1 choice and so we went with it. We got feedback that people either really liked it or not at all. Our first son's name is Luke and i had always like the ease of his name. I like that Zane is also short, no nn, easy to spell, and different. My #1 choice had been Grant...but dh didn't like it at all. Now that Zane is here...he of course fits his name and i couldn't see him as anything else.

Right now, the votes are about even and I understand why.
Thanks for your post!
Can I ask what your other children's names are?
