My husband and I are thinking of naming our baby girl Hadley Isla. We are not totally certain, I just wanted to know what you all thought. Also....How would you pronounce Isla if you saw it written down?? EYE-la or IZ-la??? or anything else??

Any other name suggestions are always welcome!!

Love Isla! Definitely one of my favorite names (though I could only use it as a mn, already having an Aila). ;)

I'm pretty sure many are familiar with Isla -- even if it's not an overly-common/popular choice -- so most should know it's eye-la. Even if they don't, and you have to correct a few people, it's really no big deal.

Love it. ;)

Thanks for the input!!!! We have decided to go with Hadley Isla Brooke actually. We are both fans of the double middle names :-) This way we both get to use our favorite names as the middle name!

I've never heard it said, and I must admit I thought it was pronounced IZ-la, but now that I've been corrected, I still think it's a lovely name. As long as you are prepared to correct people like me from time to time (and I think that is much less of an issue for a middle name), I say go for it.

Love it. I know the so-called "correct" pronunciation is Eye-la, but I also like Ees-la (soft 's')as an alternate pronunciation.

Love it! Lived in Scotland for three years and came across many Islas there, it's eye-lah, like island.

Good luck!
